We spoke with Reggie Fils-Aime and George Harrison about the Future of Nintendo!

N-Magazine: I am honoured to talk to you. So let us begin. On the E3, Sony und Microsoft showed their new consoles. But Nintendo just present the Design and the concept of the Revolution. Do you see any advantage or disadvantage? And why don't you say anything about the technical specs.

Harrison: I think we will not have any problems to keep up with Microsoft or Sony. Both are focusing on Hardware and Multimedia Featurs. But we will give more. Technical specs are important, but you need more than good Hardware. The Hardware of the Revolution is not ready. At the moment we are working hard with IBM and ATI to make a great Hardware. At the E3 Nintendo do not want to focus on a new console that isn't ready. This is the reason why we weren't show the Hardware. Microsoft and Sony fight at the moment about the Hardware. We are now the impartial Third. The only thing you saw, is the way which we want to go.
You saw the Design, but you just saw a very little piece of the Revolution concept.

Fils-Aime: That's right. Revolution wants to give more than an update of the current consoles. Nintendo is going to creat a new gaming experience. But this won't exclude the old and classical method of gaming.

N-Magazine: Could you tell us anything about the Hardware of the Revolution?

Fils-Aime: Yes, I Could. *laugh*

N-Magazine: Would you? *smile*

Fils-Aime: If you ask in this form, I cannot give any informations.

N-Magazine: So can you tell us any new information about the Revolution? Maybe the Hardware?

Fils-Aime and Harrison laugh-

Fils-Aime: You have to be very interessted in the hardware. Maybe we can give you little details.
We will be competitive to the other Manufacturer. It would be a big failure if we aren't at the same level as Sony or Microsoft. The technical aspect is important for the developer. But the Customer is interessted in what he is seeing.

N-Magazine: But how will you reach the power in this little Revolution?

Fils-Aime: This is top secret. The only thing I can say is, that ATI and IBM are developing a new revolutionary Hardwaredesign which is also a part of the Revolution. The names are not in vain "Hollywood" and "Broadway". Both chips are completely interacting together to reach enormous power. The Hardware is really fantastic. But ,as Mr. Harrison said, we aren't finished yet. The Hardware will be optimized at the moment. The Revolution shall be a small and powerful Hardware, which you can take everywhere.

N-Magazine: Wow, that is interessting. A short question: What is the Revolution?

Fils-Aime: As I said, the Hardware and the Controller. You know, there are some games which are very difficult to play. An example is the Shooter Genre. With the Revolution it shall be very easy to play every Genre. Also the Player shall have a new feeling of gaming. But we cannot say anything about the Revolution Controller.

N-Magazine: Okay. Mr. Harrison, what are the futur plans of Nintendo? Like the Online Feature concerning Revolution and NintendoDS.

Harrison: Nintendo is in a big change. The NintendoDS was the first step in a new era. We wants to go a modern way. Our aim is to reach more people. In a short time we will start the Online Portal of Nintendo. The Players shall have the chance to play worldwide Nintendo Games against other people without any costs. The players also need no extra devices or software. I believe with this feature we can convince more players to play online. The Online Portal will include more than just gaming. Communicating, Online Demos, are some examples. We have many ideas. Maybe you can send a mail from the Revolution at home and the Receiver can read your mail via NintendoDS in a train. The Revolution will extend the Online Portal of Nintendo.

Fils-Aime: We saw on the E3 that many people are surprised and happy to play the first time Mario Kart online. So I believe many NintendoDS owners are going to use the online feature.

Harrison: And the online Support is raising. The developers are inspired to make so easily an online game. You will see the Online Portal in Fall.

N-Magazine: I am also happy to play Mario Kart and Animal Crossing online. Can you say which games are planned for the Revolution?

Harrison: Many games are planned. We are also planing to make new Heros. Smash Brothers Revolution, Metroid Prime: Reborn, Pilotwings: Time to Fly, Sky of Eternity: The Legend of Kid Icarus, Donkey Kong World are classic games. But at the moment we are also working on new games. One is called "Xenias". We need Games like GTA, Halo, Gran Turismo if we want to be succesful.

N-Magazine: What is "Xenias"?

Fils-Aime: It's a great game. Xenias is a new kind of shooter. You play in the Future during the Galactical Wars and the main character is a futuristic soldier with his hightech suit called Xenias. The Single Player has a great Story. The Game also have an online Multiplayer. You can solve the Missions together or fight against other players for example Capture the flag. In the Headquarter (a space station) you can choice what you want to do. Go to the Arena to fight in Cups or go to the Bridge to chose your mission and your world which you want to visit. In the Game you can level up your suit with new power ups. This could be armors, weapons, movement abilities etc. You can also exchange this Power Ups with other Players. It is like an Online RPG in Shooter Form.
This is just one new Game. We are at the moment in an experiment phase. We do not know which projects become final games.
But in this year you get more informations about the Revolution.

Site went down shortly after. It could be fake, yes, but it seems to summate everything I've been talking about lately. The big picture is that Nintendo isn't content having a small slice of the pie - it wants parts of Sony's and Microsoft's. How to do this? Make a Halo-killer. Make a GTA-killer. Make a Gran Turismo-killer. Basically make better games, only for them. Whether or not they are first party doesn't matter - as long as they're exclusive.

Doesn't this sound just like one of the games aries was talking?

As I said earlier, Retro is working on a Halo killer. This game is going to be one of the best games at E3. In my opinion, StarCraft was the best RTS ever. This game is going to use some similar ideas. In most FPS, you play as a hero trying to save the day. In Retro’s game, they allow you to choose which storyline you want to play, just like StarCraft allows you to play as Terran, Zerg, etc. Biological weapons will play a major part in the game. Imagine fighting in a chemical plant, where toxics are stored everywhere. By shooting them, you emit the toxic. If you get hit by this stuff, many different things may happen. For instance, you may lose sight on the screen, your controls might be inverted or slowed down, etc. Or, if your character gets the fever, the controller might get hot. Very hot. The alien races are very interesting also. You will be able to switch to 3rd person in order to move faster (similar to running in Odd World: Stranger’s Wrath). You will be able to “impregnate” human players by grabbing on to them for a certain amount of time. This will implant a NPC in them, which will burst out at your command, instantly killing the human player. You will then be able to use voice control to command the NPC.

I think that something like this is hard to believe, especially when comming from Nintendo, to some of us, is because for a long time there has been a wall of uncertainty around them that keeps us from really believing that something this good can come from then, or even will.

I like that new game 'Xenias', and I like what they are saying. But the Nintendo Online thing -- unless something has changed that the general publis doesn't know -- is not called 'the Online Portal of Nintendo', it is called Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. And the things they are talking about, have also not been released to the general public -- like the email thing. Although I don't doubt thats a possiblity for what they plan, I don't think it has been said. So, they say cool stuff, but I doubt it's real.

But, on a side note, I have heard someone from NOA saying they need more games like GTA. I think it was Reggie. So, who knows. Maybe they will get more GTA-like games. Wouldn't that be cool? A mario GTA. lol. Just kiddin'!

When I read it I didn't believe it because the grammar ("a good hardware", etc.) was very unprofessional, but now that I know it's not an English site, you never know. If it is fake, at least it's not some guy pretending to be an insider who knows everything.

And Xenias sounds cool. I hope this is true, but I won't get my hopes up.

Way too many typos in my opinion, and that certainly hurts the credibility a lot for me. German site or not, even a German magazine writer shoud be well versed in English.

I call shenanigans. The site going down right after that is very suspicous too. The site itself is very suspicious too.

These two things don't add up:

274 visitors won't break a site's bandwidth, heck if the article didn't have pictures in it, I doubt any article would be able to destroy a site's bandwidth

Though they make it sorta clear that this isn't the main site, it does seem suspicous.
But what is most suspicious is the e-mail address in their contact infomation:

I've checked and discardmail is a mail service like dodgeit.com, and deals in disposable e-mail addresses. A professional magazine writer would never use this as a personal e-mail address.

When checking out this "magazine" on Google, I found no proper results.
Don't get your hopes up people, all signs are pointing to it being fake.

It's most definitely fake, the magazine doesn't even exist as far as I can tell. If you look at their contact information you will see that it shows an e-mail address ending with @discardmail.com. This is a disposable e-mail service, which means anyone can view the messages sent to it.
The site itself is hosted by using some dodgy free service thing anyone can use. A real magazine would have decent alternatives in case of downtime.

Yup, just like in school when they walked you through research in English, my teacher used to say that if the website had one of a list of things the site was not credable, and the top of the list was grammar. If there was more than one grammatiacl error on the site we couldn't use it, it's a good rule that usually works.

I've seen several replies regarding how the whole article was written, which is something that got under my skin. I know there are those that want to downplay the errors, but to me it reads as though it had been written by fifth-graders rather than by adults. Does that lousy writing prove anything? No, not necessarily, but it makes it difficult respecting it at all. It isn't just the way it was written, either, but the way the guys talked. The whole article reminds me of a "script" my kid sister had written for a school project when she was eleven or twelve.

Fake or not its nice to read everything from gyro patents and aries to Nintendo On and Reggie talking about the right brain. I only started getting on to these rumours and info from magazines and the internet when N64 came out and the hype before GCN, and DS is nothing like this at all.
