Me personally, I will be exchanging my PS2 which I bought at launch. Its good to see Sony are broadening the Playstation brand, although they always had plans to introduce an all-in-one entertainment system.

Well here in the UK your able to exchange your old console for somthing else. I don't mean a straight swap, I mean you hand in your old console and a Games store deducts a certain amout of money off your purchase. It's also possible that Sony may do some kind of discount/rebate for existing PS2 owners, but i'm just speculating.

I would consider it but then looking at the price of the PSX and thinking of the realistic off the shop will make, also taking into a account they have to make a proffit on it. Also the fact that it they get bombarded will people trading in ps2's they will offer even less. Also main i have no money so gotta save to get the ps3 on release.

The PSX will probably be more expensive than the PS2. If anything, I might swap my PS2 for a PSTwo since they will be similar in price.

Sony reduced the price of the PSX in Japan by 30% I think it was. They are noe around 400$. Extremely reasonable since you are getting a DVD recorder and now they are around 200-300$(300$ or 400$ if you want a well-known brand) and the Tivo like thing in it would run around 200-300 for the harddrive box thing from Tivo. And then you got your PS2.

The PSX is yet to be released outside of Japan. It was supposedly meant to be released to Europe and the US at the end of the year, but I believe that plan has been changed.

They pretty much considered the PSX project a failure and I think they've already stopped producing any more additional PSX's.

A $400 PS2 with a hard drive, some sort of TIVO like video recording software, a DVD burner, and music/picture player... I thinks that about covers the jist of it!

A PS2 that can/has:
-Play DVD-R/RW
-Record DVD-R/RW
-I "think" it has TiVo features (not sure)
-Built in hard drive
So yes, it definately cost more.

Since I have a PC that does most of the functions of the PSX (and a PS2 to play PS2 games on not five feet away from the PC) it makes little since atleast for me to pay extra for the device.
Thus I am simply going to denote my console funds towards the PS3 and future PS2 games, rather then a system which overlaps the capabilities of my existing PC and PS2.
On the other hand it is nice to see that they lowered the price for those who ARE interested in buying the machine. Perhaps those who buy it eventually can review it on here.

If they would bring the f----- price down, people would definitely buy it. Hell, I know I would if the opport. is presented. But, unfort. I don't it will happen, damn.

They are only about 400 bucks now...that is very reasonable IMO. If you got a standalone TiVo, DVD Recorder, and PS2 it would cost well over that amount. Cause you would have to buy two tivio's to equal the HDD size of the PSX

I love the idea of the PSX, but I think Sony released it a little late. I would have gotten one instead of the regular PS2 if it was available at launch. But now I've already spent my money, trading in my current PS2 is not as affordable because I don't get full value for it.
I'll buy the PS3's full entertainment system if its available at launch, or at least close to it. If they make me wait 2-3 years again I'll prob just get the regular PS3.
