Ofcourse why wouldn't they. Considering the new possiblities of the ps3, Square-Enix will be able to show heart stopping graphics and and better gameplay so ofcourse they're would be a Final Fantasy on the ps3. :D

Yeah that is a nice idea. I bet Square-Enix could make a good horror game. But i would rather them make a rpg game like a FFX-2. I Know this is getting off topic, but i cant wait until Kingdom hearts 2 and they're problay going to make kh3,kh4,kh5,kh6,...........ect. I just cant wait what the future beholds. :D

ya, PE1 was really good! watching that little mousy turn into an evil mutant thingy really was cool.
Parasite Eve 1 was never released over here, which is a pain. Everyone always says that it is good, and I found the second one to be a bit disappointing.
Although the main bad guy was pretty cool.....

Even though I love Kingdom Hearts, I don't think Disney and SE will make more than 2-3 KHs, because there aren't enough Disney stories. Maybe there will be a Mario Party kind of game or a race game.
I really like that horror idea, but how would you make the action scary if it is turn-based?

actualy square-enix can do whatever they want to do because disney already gave them the key to the characters. they are not limited to what they can and cant do except disney told them that there charactors could not go out of their regular character personailty. so you will not see goofy solving challaning puzzles and say something smart and/or see Donald act calm or speak good english.

The Final Fantasy brand name is worth too much to give it up, anyone who claims otherwise hasn't got a clue how marketing and brand loyalty works. People will buy games, movies and systems purely for the Final Fantasy brand name, that's worth big bucks. There is no reason for Square-Enix to ever stop making FF games, because with almost all new games in the series being new settings, stories, characters there's much less chance of them milking a specific setting into the ground.
Square-Enix has also stated that 3 franchises will make up the core of their business, with occassional unrelated games being made. Those three games are Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts and Dragon Quest. Unrelated series are games such as Drakkenguard, Star Ocean etc...
FFXII is already in production, and will arrive on PS2. It will be set in a varient of FF Tactics and FF Tactics Advanced Invalice. Character designs and art work are already available.
Square-Enix has however said that no previous games will be ported to PSP, all new content will be produced. Though I wouldn't be too shocked to see a version of the GBA Kingdom Hearts on PSP...
Oh according to rumors the GBA Kingdom Hearts game picks up right after the PS2 game, and is set in the story continuity before KH2...which means anyone without a GBA right now might miss a fairly large piece of the over all story...assuming Square-Enix doesn't find a way to keep us all filled in.
FF7: Advent Children to the best of my knowledge is a direct to dvd movie release telling a story set after the game, and that the designers at Square-Enix have said that they'd like to do a new game, not that they will.

From the way I interpreted the Final Fantasy deal is that after 12, Square will stop producing FF sequels (no 13,14, etc). But the brand would continue in things like Tactics and Spinoffs.
But I may very well be wrong. I think the previous poster who clarrified all the different Square things is most likely right.
Im kinda sick of playing games that end in 50~ hours. Need some stunning 300 hour rpg for the PS3. Final fantasy somethin that takes 300 hours to beat and over 600 hours to master. Thats what im talkin about.

According to GameSpot's most recent "ChartSpot" article, which covers from the end of January to February 1st, Crystal Chronicles didn't make it very far in sales. (It's not featured on any of the lists.) Plus, most reviews were under 8.0, which suggests that the game isn't Square's best work. (Personally, I expected something in the high 8.0's, low 9.0's because of all the hype. Not to mention how long the game took to develop.) So, I wouldn't worry about Square releasing a Final Fantasy game from the main series on a Nintendo console anytime soon. By the way, Brad, you're crazy - 40 hours is a huge stretch for me, my big record going to GTA3 with well over 50 hours. For an RPG, though, I've never made it above 30 hours. (Which is why I don't own Final Fantasy X.) :shock:

that is because there weren't that many commercials for it. Most people are too lazy to look up information for themselves, they have to be blasted with it by advertisers.

Have you seen this game? Its all cutesy and such. The Crystal spin offs (This is the second I know of) have always been aimed at younger players, they never have done as well as the main titles. Plus you need a gba just to complete the game with all the secrets unlocked...and TV spots have only just started. The game looks to be entirely polygon game engine graphics, no serious CGI, its got zelda like small characters with big heads. It really shouldn't be compared to what PS2 players call Final Fantasy.

7 and 9 and 11 and tactics were the same; 8 was by itself; and crystal chronicals was by itself; 10 & 10-2 is one team; and i dunno the rest....

I think they are already working on a PS3 game. I mean, FF12 will probably the last FF on the ps2, maybe they will go for an FFXII-2 game afterwards, like they did with FFX. If square-enix (and sony) are smart, they'll try to have a final fantasy game ready when the PS3 launches. I mean, just look at how many playstations were sold just because FF7 came out for it?

I think that FFX-3 could be a possibility, It might seem like they would be ringing the towel dry but i think it could be pulled off. From what it sounds like in the press releases for Advent Children it may be a precursor to a playable sequl to FF7 The franchise is worth too much to Square Enix. Every one knows that they could release a FF game that everyone said was crap and most of us would buy it, just because the title is Final Fantasy. Granted I never bothered with Tatics or tatics advance. I think with future FF titles you'll probally see more minute details like Individually rendered grass and a more continuious world map the transition to cg scenes will be more fluid. The PS3 has way too much power for it all to be allocated to graphics.

i can see the output slowing down. . as it seem to be... it seem we got a game every year on ps1. . . then about 1 every 18 months on ps2. . i can see that slowing down on ps3 to something like a game every 2 years jsut because the size and complexety is moving to to a scope simular to that of a film.

If I remember rightly, they started developing FFX around the same kind of time that FFVIII was released, so they like to keep ahead of themselves. They're probably already in the early stages of development of XIV.....

the game sucked o.k i did beat it just because i have a thing about beating the games that i own and i own all the FF games and i was hopping that tidus would die at the end but i just plain don't like FF10 so people said that blitzball was cool but it was just to EZ if you hired and fired the right guys then.....i know a lot of people are going to hate me but if you read the post that i've made about FF in the past my least fav. of the FF series is ff9 i just plain hated it sorry but i hate that game worse then FF10....as you can see i did'nt even take the time to cap. the FF in ff9....haha 8)
p.s go ahead and say how ff9 is the best one and you loved it i've heard it all before

You have to realize though, with the firing of Sakaguchi, a chance for the Final Fantasy games to become more diverse has opened up. Don't get me wrong, I love all the FF games and I hope that they don't shift completely away from their roots. But, I believe that this is a great chance for Enix to come up with some new ideas.
As for the making of a sequel to FFVII, it's a great idea, but only if it keeps the same concepts of the game, maybe a re-vamp of the controls and some gameplay differences, but nothing else. I have read about a couple of sequels being made, "Advent Children" (a movie) and some other game that based around Vincent Valentine. The latter is supposed to be an Action game, which I think is a BAD IDEAD. No FF should ever be an Action game. If they don't title it a Final Fantasy game, It will be fine. Anyways, if they decide to make a playable, RPG sequel for PS3, then I'm definitely on board for it.
You have to realize though, with the firing of Sakaguchi, a chance for the Final Fantasy games to become more diverse has opened up.
You are right. But if they put a new team to do ALL the work in a new RPG
and then just call it FFXII, it just doesn't seem right to me...
As for the making of a sequel to FFVII, it's a great idea, but only if it keeps the same concepts of the game, maybe a re-vamp of the controls and some gameplay differences, but nothing else. I have read about a couple of sequels being made, "Advent Children" (a movie) and some other game that based around Vincent Valentine. The latter is supposed to be an Action game, which I think is a BAD IDEAD. No FF should ever be an Action game. If they don't title it a Final Fantasy game, It will be fine.
It will probably be titled as a FF, because that way it will sell more.

ok about this i feel as though the series sould be names somthing else it's not right to name your game after a game that has already made a name for it's self. that's like me coming in and making a game of jak after the designer had quit and calling it jak 4 and if it sucked then it would put domn the name of the series....but that's just what i think......but hopfuly the game will not suck and everything can go on as normal as if nothing ever happend.

You no...i myself dont like final fantasy....i dont no why everyone elsle does....i think that if they do make anotha ff...which i think would b dumb not to cause all da $$ det makin, they should make it with the rest of da games and not make a seperte hard drive for it so everyone doesnt go playin that all the time :twisted:

Hey, I think it would be a great idea. And I know they've already made P.E. but it wasn't an FF game...
If they made Final Fantasy 13 a horror version of the traditional Final Fantasy it would be awesome! They can put their 'scary moogles' in there. And they can have dark crystals, and so on, and so forth...
P.S. - sorry for replying so late. I'm a new member, so I couldn't post my idea 'til now...
P.P.S. - I think they should make a fighting game similar to Super Smash Bros. but instead- with Final Fantasy characters and worlds, yeah?

the next final fantasy should have to do more with magic, it should have to with the use of the dark magics and the forbidin magics like ultima.
the summons should be evil or something and using them could possible effect your character some how.
they should also have omega weapon play a more important role.
or maybe the can make it play on people's (within the game) fear, kinda like how sin (in ff10) has done.
i was also thinkin that when you use a summon it becomes a part of you, eg. if u use shiva her spirt assisst u in battle and ice magic spells become more effective while fire magic spells can hurt you more. the character can also have a slightly diffrenet apperance. (im thinkin along the lines of ff8 how theres like 12 summons and u attach them to you)
and lastly i was thinkin that the games main character must be more manly, violent, and careless. there should be a rival party or group that comes after you in the game to test your strengh. and they should work on leveling up, I like ff10's grid sphere, and the fact that the monsters have levels in ff8. this game's monsters should have diffrent levels and different ways of fighting in stead of the scripted crap from ff10.
