This is a thread to guess the next company to jump on the PSP development bandwagon. Post who you think will announce they are making games before March.

The current companies who announced they are developing thus far are:

Artificial Mind & Movement
Atari
EA
Koei
Page 44 Studios
Surreal Software
THQ

My current guess as to the next company to announce developing for the PSP is Namco. Who do you think will?

Out of all of those on the list, I'd have to say that Capcom and Konami are the most consistent.

In PSM2's latest edition (Xmas edition, on sale now) there's an annotation on their PSP story that states "Criterion are working on a version of Burnout 2". So you can add that development house and Acclaim as a publisher straight away.

while im sure its right but psm2 like any magazine get things wrong and in the uk 1 they seem to be getting worse on getting simple things right
thats the reason i stoped buying it
just to give 1 example of their many mistakes they said that UMD standed for unive..... MINI disk even though if u looked carefully at the pic of the umd at e3 being held by wots his name clearly says on it uni.... media disk
oh yea and another 1 which stickes in my mind todo with the psp is that they rekond that the psp prossesor which runs at 333MHz is faster than the EE in the ps2 because of the clock speed. i wouldnt expect a normal person to know about these things but for a gaming magazine not to understand anything they publish is terrible in my opin

Polyphony Digital I believe. Apart from the Gran Turismo games, they've only made one other game. Omega Boost.

Omega Boost is a mech game for the PS1.

Here's a review (http://www.gamespot.com/ps/action/omegaboost/review.html) from Gamespot. I think I remember the Official PlayStation Magazine at the time give it a 9.

I wonder why  (Huge Hint: Publisher)

I've never seen Omega Boost, and I got the Playstation around launch. That's pretty odd..

About the news from PSM2, yea I don't trust them much either so I won't be putting that development studio up there. Sorry.

The new list is:

Artificial Mind & Movement
Atari
EA
Koei
Page 44 Studios
Playlogic
Surreal Software
THQ

The list will be updated as new developers are announced.

Omega Boost did sort of slip into the bargain box quite quickly. It was an OK game, but I think that we can safely say they're other games are better.

I think it's worthy posting that Activision might develop for the PSP. A news release said that they were considering what game might work best with the hardware.

Well since it said who is my favorite company i put EA but as far as who i want to join the development for PSP it would be capcom. I still think a continuation to the Power Stone series would be great.

Why miss out Konami and Sega? Also why have you mixed developers and publishers?

PS, if you set the poll to 0 days maybe you'll give people time to actually vote.

Matt
02-06-2004, 09:10 PM
It says companies as opposed to developers, so maybe that's why there is a mixed bunch.

Danji Ikari

Um, yea it's just game companies. Not just developers/publishers. Konami is up there, and I will add sega to it.

PS, if you set the poll to 0 days maybe you'll give people time to actually vote.

If you've already voted then you won't be able to vote again. So that's why it doesn't give you the option.

i dont think the psp will be able to play half life because it doesnt hve enogh power. but if it could i dont think it willl look anygood.

but hey i could be wrong :(

What do you mean the PSP won't be able to handle it?! Wasn't it's processor speen faster than the PS2's? It does have 32mb of ram, and it's pixel fill rate will be almost the same. PS2 has its own version of Half-Life that actually looked better than the PC version. My guess is that PSP can play Half-Life. I don't know about Half-Life 2 though.

the processor in the PSP are pretty much equal. and GT4 dude seriously, start reading about the subjects you post about. PSP if given the power people state that it has could easily handle HL1 but not HL2. HL is by far one of the uglier FPS i've seen on the PS2.

Expect something between PS1 and PS2 in terms of game graphics.

The Frail
02-09-2004, 02:46 AM
PSone is old hardware that can be emulated pretty easy nowadays. I'm leaning more towards the PS2 graphics after reading the specs. I mean it is logical right? If SONY wants to revolutionize the handheld department they're going to have to make a huge leap in graphics and add lots of functions.

Namco, and a few companies you didn't mention have already announced PSP development.

Although they have yet to announce support, Take-Two is very interested in the PSP. I think they will definitely support it. They are just waiting to learn more about it's business model.

Capcom, and Konami have already announced support.

Polyphony Digital might never support the PSP, because they are a very busy company. SCE might just delegate development of Gran Turismo on PSP to another studio.

Square I think will support the PSP, but I don't think we're going to see anything from them until late 2005.

Matt, Polyphon Digital made Moto Toon Grand Prix 1 and 2, and they also made ChainDive.

Activision has also announced PSP support.
