My question is, with somany good games expected in the first half of '04 (KH2, FF, GT4, baulder's gate 2, ect) is:
If you had enough money, or access to all the best games, who would have the time to enjoy all of them?
'04 is looking like a great year, game wise.

Are we talking about the general public, or ourselves?

If we're talking about the general public, I'd say either Gran Turismo 4 or Metal Gear Solid 3.

If we're talking about personal choice, then I'd say Metal Gear Solid 3 and Final Fantasy XII.

Metal Gear Solid 3 all the way. I'm all about the MGS games. MGS is the one game by which all others are judged when it comes to stealth action games. Splinter Cell 2 will be on my list in 2004 but MGS3 is number one on my list. When it comes down to car games Gran Turismo is the real shit. GT4 is 2nd on my most anticipated games list for 2004 cant wait for that one to come out. thare's allot of games that I'm going to be buying in 2004 but I think that's my top three. Others include--Killzone--Hitman 3 Contracts-Syphon Filter 4 The Omega Strain--Driver 3--The Getaway 2--and Grand Theft Auto 4. Lets just say I'm going to be a very happy PS2 lover come 2004.   :D       :D

You could just vote for "Other", and then say Killzone in your post.

Nothing is really known about GTA V yet, so who knows when it'll be out. They can take as long as they like, as long as they make it good! :)

The only information available for GTA4 is that it will be out sometime in October, 2004. It'll be a long time before we get some screen shots of the game, but, personally, I'm hoping GTA4 goes back to the GTA3 roots. I'd like to know, who thought adding Helciopters, the Map, and opening up too much map too early was a huge mistake for Vice City? I personally think it ruined a lot of learning aspects, forcing gamers to stick to missions instead of exploring. Too much game is revealed through these extra conveniences, and, like I said in the Driver 3 post, if a game sells as well as GTA3 did, do you really need to cater to new-comers? I think Vice City just has too many fan-requested additions, such as crouching. I’m not saying all of Vice City’s additions were maladaptive, though. For example, being able to bail out of cars was an awesome addition. In addition, most of Vice City’s missions were much different then GTA3’s and introduced some new uses for the already-implemented gameplay mechanics. (The boat-protecting mission, though extremely buggy, was a great scenario-styled mission, requiring the gamer to endure the trials of bad guys, boats, and helicopters until the mission was complete.) By the way, for Vice City, who thought the script was good? I personally think it was stupid and insulting compared to GTA3's intelligent, witty dialog. The two chat stations for Vice City were unbelievably dull and uninteresting for me.
For GTA4, I’d love it if Rockstar dropped the map and helicopters and brought back the clipped-wing Dodo. I’d like to have one mission that has you staking out a meeting in a warehouse setting, watching from an upper floor behind some boxes or crates. (I know what I want.) A smarter, funnier script with more innuendoes and likable characters (The dark kind of likable.) would really make GTA4 much better. Some advanced driving and on-foot AI would be awesome. In addition, I wish Rockstar would implement some solid on-foot mechanics. (For example, some good fighting moves, complimented by accurate collision detection and more responsive controls.) One thing, though – I don’t care about the jumping mechanics. Many people complain about the jumping, but I think a looser jumping ability will lead to more Max Payne effects and silly platform elements. (Although, in the “Max Payne vs. GTA controls” department, I wouldn’t mind a third-person FPS control set up for GTA4.) GTA3 offered what gamers needed to jump on all sorts of places, and very rarely let the gamer down despite its limitations. (Primerily because of the game’s level design.) These are all just opinions and “wish list”-type ideas, but I personally think they’d really change the way GTA plays and feels for the better.
I think there’s still plenty of room for GTA to grow and improve. If Rockstar doesn’t become paranoid of change, (Like Capcom.) then future GTA games will continue to amaze gamers and irritate moms and politicians.
