Okay, basicly I want to know is when you get FF11 (if your getting it that is) will you get it for PC or PS2?
I myself, if I can get the money together will get it for PC. I just don't have the money to get my PS2 online...

I know that. I was just asking if you would get it for PC or PS2 when they are both avalibal.
The downside to PC is that it takes up 6GB of hard drive space. Thats just space I don't have on my ageing PC......
If I get a new PC/laptop are go out and get FF11 in seconds. But in england we are still waiting for the news that FF11 is actraly going to come here........

That was the date for the USA. We'll only just be getting X-2 around that time probably, so XI will probably be over here in the Summer.

Im probably going to go online with my ps2 and try ffxi sometime this year or next year. Not right no to expensive. Besides I'm pretty content with single player games. That and I'm not that social with online games.
This will probably come across as a stupid question, but will the PC and PS2 versions have the same community?
As in, will PC FFXI gamers be able to play along with PS2 FFXI gamers?

Yes.
It is the first ever online game (as far as I know) to cross the platforum boundry.
Both PC and PS2 gamers will play together in the same world.
That's OK then. Do you know if there is a subscription fee with the PC version?
I'm assuming that the PS2 version will have a subscription fee, so if the PC version doesn't then my mind would be pretty much made up.

All verstions of FF11 have a fee. This is to pay for the server. There is no way Square could ever make it free.
The prices are ruffly:
£12 a month to play FF11.
£1 a month to play Terra Master.
£1 a month for an extra charicter.
Ahh well, then it won't matter which version I get.
Well I don't have a PS2, but when my PC was a Cellery 333 the decision was rather easy. A PS2 with HD would be cheaper than a new PC that could handle it. Now I'm probably going to get a P-M 735 system so the decision gets a bit harder, as I still don't have a PS2 (just an SNES).

I can only get the PS2 version even if I wanted to get the PC version. Since my PC is pretty much crap, it can't even play the PC version of FFXI.

this game kick so much ass the only bad thing is the japenese people have a faster connection time to the servers to monster and drop items appear on there screen before anyone elses it sucks but the game is just so cool.

That's kinda obvious... since the central server is located in the Japan Square-Enix HQ.

i know but you see there are some "rare" monsters n this game that only spawn every 6 hours (in real time not game time) somtime yopu can tell where there going to spawn well i was waiting for one such monster and the monster load on a japenese players screen first so of course he gets to inguage the monster kill it and get the drop which really pissed me off i mean first the guy comes out of nowhere then he kill my monster still to this day i have never seen another i could be way ahead in my equipment right now if it wasent for that guy
For anybody in the UK who is looking to buy this game, the PC version is due for release on the 17th of September. The PS2 date is still to be confirmed.

well just to tell you my opinion i think that the ps verson is a better way to go i played both and there is just somthing about the ps2 that i just like i don't even know what it is but both versons are good we sould start up a chain of ps3insider clans...that's a good idea so i think i'll start one in the clans form.....ok :D

see the thing is with PC and PS2..to play it for PS2 it costs more. you have to pay for the attached HDD then a keyboard if you want to talk to people. which is gay i would rather have headset. Anyway if you are used to the FF games on PS (which you should be unless your a weird person) then id say PS2 but if you wanna save money do it on the harder to play PC. because you have to type stuff like
/attack sword slash
or something crazy like that i dont remeber. but yea im not getting FFXI i jsut want the HDD..grr release just HDD SONY!!!

well sure it does cost more money on the ps but i think that it just feels better...and better is....well better but that is my opionion if you don't mind typing everything that you what to do then it's fine but typing takes longer that means more attackes for your enemy and that sucks.

My sis said she'll buy me the pc version, and my mom will get the expansion. I don't want to waste money on a hdd and network adapter, when i already have one on the pc.

yea thats a good idea..its better then spending a whole bunch of money and still pay 13bucks for online
Personally I would've got the PS2 version, but I'm impatient, so I went and bought the PC version. :)

Unless you can connect a USB hard drive to the redesigned PS2, there's no chance of playing FFXI, which just eats me alive with fury.. I was going to buy a PS2, so I can play FFXI besides my computer. I would love to use my PC and PS2 at the same time... to bring up clocks, guild info, quest, info.. etc...
Anyway... if SONY doesn't provide a way to play ALL their games, then I'm pretty much done with SONY altogether.
