What PS3 needs is a good, scary, horror series with a new spin on things. Got any ideas? I love horror games, but it just seems like all the games coming out these days are all the same old same old, yah know? We need something really psycho. The horror genre is so small and needs some new "blood".

I'd like to see a survival horror game involving Vampires and Werewolves and things like that as enemies, and I don't mean like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I mean something good similar to the likes of Silent Hill or Resident Evil, but set in a Castle or something.

well, then what do you think about a multiplayer horror game on evil dead-army of darkness.trapped in time, low on gas with fistful of boomstick.just like putting horror in second part of the game evil dead-hail to the king.as it is adventure game then horror.

They are doing Resident Evil Online for PS2. It looks cool and all, but at the same time it looks like the same old same old Resident Evil, just with more people playing. It could be more diffrent than I imagine, considering that I haven't played it yet, but I suspect that I won't be. I want a game that is a psychological as the movie Alien was. Not the same plot line or anything, but the same in flavor and atmosphere. Dark, tight, and psycho. No idea about a plot line or anything, but that is what I have been craving in a horror game. Like how Resident Evil 2 was. That game scared the crap outta me playing late at night, in the dark and all alone. It kept me on the edge of my seat, wondering when I was gonna die. The implication of an attacfk was scarier that the attck itself. Most horror games that I have played have lost the edge that horror needs.

I'd really like to see a werewolf game. And by that I mean a game where there would be just one or possibly maybe three werewolves, not a whole pack! The player would have to hide or try to escape from the wolves, block the doors and windows and such. Perhaps in the end of the game the player would find means to defeat the beast(s).
I really would like to see a game where the player wouldn´t be as almighty as nowadays. I´d prefer the horror movie approach where the protagonist is quite helpless against the monsters. That kind of a game would be scary!
Possibly the 1st person approach would create even more fright?
It seems Sony´s Forbidden Siren tries this approach. In an interview the makers said, that the player should escape the ghosts, because the player cannot beat them.

Once upon a time someone was going to make a game based upon the RPG WereWolf:The Apokolypse by WhiteWolf. I even remeber seeing early screens of the game if my memory serves me right. It looked like a third person RPG/Horror brawler. Too bad it disappered. I too want a bad assed horror werewolf game. maybe one were you start off in human form, like American Werewold in London/Paris, and get infected. But then, one based on the WhiteWOlf Horror RPG would kick all mighty ass, fighting the Wyrm and it demon minion. Slaughtering Vampires and kicking human ass. That would be fun stuff. Maybe the makers of Vampire:Bloodlines will make a Werewolf game after Vampire. They should bring both to PS3 if they do. Wickedness to the max.

Yes quite true, SH is a very emotional game. I played it for 8 hours flat-out and for the rest of the day i was like whoa

The only one that can do that is Exorcist, the rest are too bland

Yea, i know exactly what you mean. But the horror games in ps2 are more of a action/adventure+some scary scenes type. Silent hill series was scary, i remember i put my home theater system on aux and pumped SH 2.
Poe's talking raven, Lovecraft's incest, the skinless dogs of Resident Evil, the rats of Parasite Eve, the head-clinging monstrosities of Alien and System Shock 2, the creepy little girl AI of the RE movie....slap all that in a game with a scary theme and you got yourself a masterpiece

LMFAO
Now thats funny
Well, then you can go watch I know what you did last summer or something, lol.
I liked the exorcist, with all the religious spin-offs. I can't think of a single movie other than exorcist that i found scary. Like...there are scenes that make you jump, but thats just the suspence building inside you.
Omen 1 & 2 were good, but not nearly as scary (anti-christ stuff etc).
If you wanna watch real comedy, try exorcist 2 or 3...probably the shittiest flicks i ever seen.

Unfortunately I haven't found a horror movie that has scared me yet. However one I do recommend watching is Cabin Fever. I don't know why, but I really enjoyed this movie, although im sure many will disagree with me.

I'd like to see a game that's scary like SH2 but with the action of RE.And plot of SH too.
Good horror movies
Jacob's ladder
Session 9

Silent hill is more like a game that you can relate to, you know? Its like something that can happen to you, as the character is your average joe.
RE is more of an action flick which keeps you at the edge of the seat, just waiting for something to pop out at you from nowhere. mixing the 2 would result in more of a RE game than a SH. I don't think that it would work that well, but thats as good an idea as any here.

The shining was pretty cool, it was a psychological thriller, not so much as scary but it did send chills down your spine.
Exorcist wasnt scary at all, I nearly laughed at that movie.
Most scary movie ever, the japanese version of the ring... HOLY SHIT!
That movie was frightening, I wish I spoke Japanese, Hollywood cant make shit right.
Shining was ok...not as scary compared to the book though. None of the movies, based on his books, do justice to stephen king. I watched both of these movies (the shining and Exorcist) around 1985/86, and they seemed pretty scary. But the one that made an impact on me in the long run was the exorcist, but thats just me....
and maybe 90% of the people who claim exorcist to be the scariest movie of all time
The thing that got me liking the exorcist were all the religious over tones. Ofcourse...now we got our "teenager" movies that are supposed to be scary but hardly manage to make a dent. You know, there was a time when they actually used to pay people to watch the Exorcist in the theaters alone to see if they were "brave" enough, lol.
And me...i downloaded exorcist on my computer and i watch it around 2 in the morning, living alone, for it to deliver something that all these shitty horror movies they make these days dont

So alot of you expect PS3 horror games to be like movies?
As far as detail goes, then they'll be a lot better, but they won't be near to movies, at least that's what I think anyway.

There was another thread someone one this board with a link to somewhere which said that PS3 might be able to produce movie quality sound..... If it can, then we're in for an home audio experience we won't forget anytime soon 8).

It was what the original should've been, it was brilliant the way the lightning would come through windows, light up parts of the room, then you'd get a rumble afterwards, terrifying sometimes.

Yep, I love that game, it is the reason I bought the Gamecube in the first place. Cant wait for Resident Evil 4 either, I am very tempted to buy the Japanese version when it comes out later this year!

Think it's delayed till 2005, but there's no need for Capcom to rush.
