no i think tekken 5 has been in developement since 2002 gamespot said so in that year mention so id say it will be on ps2
as for soul calibur 3 they they would do one every 2 yrs so i dunno
There was a long period of time between the first and second Soul Calibur games, so I think that we'll be seeing the next game on the PS3.

I think it's time to do something new with fighting games. How about a fightng system that uses both analog sticks as control.
What would you do with the right analog stick?

Maybe each analog stick would control the movement of each fist, could be great for a first person boxing game.
May not work for games like Tekken and Virtua Fighter, but an interesting idea anyway. I had the thought of using that stick for the camera, but there would be a few problems with that:
You'd be concentrating too much on getting the right angle it may hinder the gameplay
Two player mode would be a bit odd. Two people trying to move the camera opposite ways. You would end up using the camera angle to distract your opponent.

Well, what namco needs to do with Tekken is have a better replay system. Theirs nothing their to keep you playing. DOA has the costume unlocking system, soul calibur has the weapons master where you gain money to buy ,weapons, arenas and costumes, virtua fighter has kumite, and what does Tekken have? Ending FMV's? Also, I thought a good element to add to the game would be adding fighting rings and ring outs like in virtua fighter. It makes so much since because of the position change move. This would add so much more depth and strategy, plus a change of scenery, and give the game an overall different feel. I know if I can come up with these ideas by myself I know Namco can.
I think that at this stage Namco would be accused of stealing a few ideas if they started adding in things like Ring-Outs and so on. Plus, there wouldn't be a lot of point buying a Tekken if it was exactly the same as Virtua Fighter or Soul Calibur.
That's what i think anyway. I've never really been a huge fan of fighting games like Tekken and Virtua Fighter. I'm more of a 2-D fighter fan.

Soul Calibur III would look better than any Tekken game would. You remember how Tekken Tag Tournament looked at the launch of the PS2? The graphics on DOA2: Hardcore stomped it. That and I think that Soul Calibur is a much better game in general.
virtua fighter is a terrible game

I know a few people who would be very angry with you now. :)
Any reason why you don't like it?
o0o0o0 long time
screw tekken 5 and soul calibur 3. need some more original shit. Every final fantasy that comes out is atleast original, with new characters/story line etc.
Although i wouldnt mind some lunar sequals

Well, think about it - if Namco decided to try something different, they'd probably end up replacing the characters but hanging onto their move sets. Yeah, this new game would feature different characters and scenes, but it would still be the same game with a slightly different layout. (And possibly a few experimental things thrown in there too, but they'd quickly be dismissed as gimmicks.)
virtua fighter is a terrible game
Here's something to go with that - Tekken is a terrible game. I like games that reward quick reflexes, which sadly, isn't the case anymore. There are delays in 3D games, Tekken and Super Smash Bros. being my best examples. Virtua Fighter 4, while more responsive than Tekken, just wasn't my type of game. I have nothing against it, its got some nice graphics and all, but the whole fighting system just doesn't feel right to me.

Fighting games I've owned...
Street Fighter 2 Turbo (SNES)
Virtua Fighter (Saturn)
Virtua Fighter 2 (Saturn)
Virtua Fighter 3 (Dreamcast)
Virtua Fighter 4 (PlayStation 2)
Soul Blade (PlayStation)
Soul Calibur (Dreamcast)
Soul Calibur 2 (PlayStation 2)
Tekken 2 (PlayStation)
Tekken 3 (PlayStation)
Tekken 4 (PlayStation)
Dead or Alive (PlayStation)
Dead or Alive 2 (PlayStation 2)
Fighting Vipers (Saturn)
Last Bronx (Saturn)
so I've had quite alot of experience with fighting games.
virtua fighter is a terrible game
How on Earth can you say that? Out of all the fighting games I've payed, Virtua Fighter is one of the greatest.
For a moderator, that's a pretty thick thing to say. I've seen loads of crap posted by idiots on this forum, but the stupidest one has been by a moderator.
If you don't like it, then that's fine, I wasn't much for Virtua Fighter 4, but there's a big difference between saying you don't like something and stating that it's crap.

Tekken 5 and Soul Calibur 3 will be the most majestic sequels to a fighitng arcade game.

Tekken 4 to me had so much slowdown. The players took ages to get back up. Sure i liked the fact that you had more freedom of movement but thats about it. As far as im concerned the best fighting games ive ever played are Virtua Fighter 2,3 and 4.

I've played all the games mentioned, but i've always felt that the Mortal Kombat series was my favorite of the bunch...

Yes i liked the gore and blood especially.I wish they could implement those elements into more fighting games.
Nah, I think that Mortal Kombat is enough for now. There aren't that many fighting franchises out there, you wouldn't them all to contain blood and guts. Well, unless everyone is like you. :)

Its time Namco put the Tekken series to rest and think of something new and original. It was good on the PS1 but I think it lost its way on the PS2.
Tekken 4 was no match for Soul Calibre 2, I think Namco must have spent all the Tekken budget on making Soul Calibre 2, but I think even this has had its day now.
The same goes for alot of games it time to see new original games not remakes and sequal games that go on and on.
But saying that I would like to see GT5 on the PS3 and any future Final Fantasy games maybe one more time. :D
A slight contradiction with the last couple of sentances, but I get what you mean. A lot of franchises are somewhat running out of steam. Although there are a few franchises I would like to see hang around, namely Virtua Fighter and Guilty Gear.

They only start messing up when they produce crap sequels but whats the difference between fighting games, the next tekken might be totally differrent, its all on the individual game not the series, Only Microsoft cock up in every version of something release i.e. Windows.

Haha, don't we know it.
With fighting games, I guess that when a series is failing, there's the oppurtunity to do something different to the previous games. That's what they've been trying to do with Tekken.

WTF ? What are yu talkking about ? Tekken 5 will be released for the PS2 and Tekken is definitely the best Beat Em Up Game.
It has Atmosphere, good Story and the Fighting Modus is brilliant.
Soul Calibur better than Tekken ? Laugh. These are totalyy different Games. And those who mentions new system ... There are other kind of games like Bloody Roar , not bad at all, why you don't play that ?

Soul Calibur iin my mind is the best weapon based fighting game to date. Hmm, it might be the only weapon based fighting game out there.

I think all fighting games are great but Tekken is possibly the greatest ever alongside Virtua Fighter.

i reckon the old school-ish arcade streetfighter games are awesome. like darkstalkers for psp, stuff where you move so fast and can bust insane 30-hit combos, it's cool shit.

it's better to create Soul Calibur 3 on PS3 than Tekken, because Tekken didn't changed except in graphic, all the martial art fighting styles are the same.
Example : The girl in the T4 is the same as Eddy in T3 and Tag Tournament.

Calm down Nick...its just his opinion.
3 words - Mortal Kombat PWNZ!
In my opinion, Mortal Kombat isn't what it used to be. Deadly Alliance was good, I just think that they've lost something since MK2 and 3.

Yeah they lost 2d and gained 3d!
I suppose it is the same with Streetfighter, which did you prefer 2d Streetfighter games or 3d Streetfighter games such as Streetfighter: EX + A, and the one that came out for PS2 in first generation of games?

Mortal Kombat:DA was good but could have been done better in my opinion. The overall package was good but the fighting system could have been more intuitive. There were only a few combos per characters and the moves didn't string together. Push square and then triangle nothing would happen. But with a game like Tekken theres a much bigger variety of moves you could pull off. Don't get me wrong I liked the game a lot and will probably get Deception but the fighting system is not the best.

Go fuck yourself then! Hey hey hey... WHY DON'T YOU?!? lol... just kiddin' :P.
I personally didn't like Soul Caliber 2 too much, but it was an okay game... Now Tekken... Tekken 4 was pretty crappy, but the others were actually pretty decent, my fav tekken game has gotta be Tekken Tag Tourny 8).
Mortal Kombat pwnz0r3d back in the good 'ol days... But the newer MK games seems pretty crappy compared to other flashy flashy bling bling fighting games....

Everyone knows that IK++ is going to be "where it's at", so to speak.
Confirmation of its development was finally revealed when Archer Maclean was interviewed about the making of IK+. Given that the first games focussed on quick moves, careful collision detection, and no rock-scissors-paper messings, it'll be a breath of fresh air.

That's not actually what I was meaning- I'm talking about Archer Maclean's own, official sequel...
I would like to see a fightin game with game play and controls as good as in soul calibur or tekken, a bit faster, blood and very good voice acting (for example: if you smash a little girl with a giant sword in soul calibur she sounds like she has broke her nail :D ). And since I like RPGs a experience/level up system would be nice...and some kind of a "limit break system during battles to meke your character more powerful (something like when the sayians "level up" in Dragon Ball Z) and put cool looking effects to it when this would happen :D . Now imagine all this with PS3's graphix...
