I've been thinking about this for a little while, and I was wondering, considering the amount of features PSP is to have and also considering that most PDAs come with a pen and a touch screen, is it at all possible that the PSP being a PDA itself, will come standard with a pen and touch screen?

Why I ask this is because, if it had these features, I would prefer to buy a PSP, rather than buying 2 PDAs ( a PSP and perhaps an IPAQ )! Because then I could use the PSP for work and for playing games!

I got to read up on the PSP features again but is it going to be a PDA? If it is then i hope they put a pin as standard. If they dont i could always end up making one myself but it would just be nicer if they did.

Depends if this would drematicly increase the price i could hapily live without it. Not to mention if it doesn't have any PDA functions will it be needed?

...That would really really suck. The Zodiac doesn't even have a pen. That would look ridiculous too.

Why would it look ridiculous? Obviously you don't use PDAs such as a Palm Pilot or an IPAQ! You don't have a physical keyboard or mouse on these PDAs, therefor navigating isnt exactly the easiest thing! A touch screen and pen would make it a lot simpler to manage files, write notes etc. Heck, it could even open up some new game possibilities.

You are quick to knock the idea, but you don't seem to realise the potential it could have! What you have written is not constructive criticism, please state why you think having a touch screen and pen for the PSP would be such a BAD idea in a constructive way!

well, you could have a mouse onscreen, and control it with the analog stick (much like super smash bros. melee)

Compaq Tablet pc's are tremendous for this!...they are very good and have a small pen to use as the mouse and the keyboard pops up for the task bar...or you could plug them in

PSP is a gaming console. Not a PDA. Just because it has PDA functions doesn't mean it has to have all features of a PDA. A touch screen would cause major problems and would increase the amount of accidents that would happen with it. Storing it in a bookbag would only cause it to move through menus without you knowing. There aren't that many benefits to the idea anyways. It would cost way to much money to implement something like that into it. Using the D-pad to navigate through menus is fine with me.

Thank you! I have no problem with criticism, as long as it is justified! Make no mistake I have no problem with you, I just thought your previous response was a tad short-sighted.

Thanks for clearing that up

I just don't have time to elaborate most of the time. I usually only elaborate when asked to or if it's of absolute importance to deliver the idea.

i admit that a pen wouldnt b usefull for playing most games, but still, id rather have one then not have one at all.

if people are gonna buy psp because they might use it as an organiser, which most will, then it would be pretty damn good to have a pen.!!!
