I'm going to save up some money for the next couple of years so I can buy the Play Station 3. I did the same thing when I was waiting for the Play Station 2. It did take me a long time to save up all of the money though...

Actually, I have already save my pocket money unto 300$, it takes 8 months to do that. If Sony deicide to debut ps3 with 350$ or 400$ tag, then my dad will help me by giving additional 50$ to100$. Conclusion- I will buy ps3 on very first day or month after it’s debut.
You know something, I still have to save another 300$ for xbox2. It will take up to next 6 to 7 months to save from my pocket money.

I won't be getting it right after it debuts. Why? Purely technical: I don't want all the problems and bugs associated with first generation consoles :D :P.

I'm 90% sure I won't have any problems with my ps3. I'm lucky in that way.

actually i'm going to buy the ps3 the first day it comes out or at least on that very same month. The_One yeah there might be bugs at first and some consoles might get messed up because this is new a new set up to build so yes there might be some problems. But here is a fact you don't know, if you're going to get it try and get in the first generation associated to ps3. Why?, my dad is a technician and he's tired of fixing ps2's already. Most ps2s get messed up because the customer doesn't know how to maintain the machine. He says that the first ps2 that came out, the inside and the outer shells are so much better and resistant than later shipments. I got my ps2 the same month it came out and it has no problems and about a year later my dad bought another one for him to use the DVD and he wanted it for me to play in the living room too(he too plays sometimes and he's like 46 years old LOL, His favorite game by the way is Starfox N64 LOL, He beat the darn thing like 65 times by now).

When we compare both once we open them up the later ps2 has alot less things inside and the plastics and metals used are so much cheaper and easier to break. The first ps2 has so much more resistance and protection. Each section on the first ps2 has like a metal cover that, protects the lazer from dust, the HDD bay etc. Making the system more resistant to a fall or shocks etc.

So i for one will get the first version even if i have to up grade the DVD drive later on etc and have to install patches on the HDD. Here are tips, at first when released the ps3 if it has a disk tray, the tray so it can slide smoothly it brings a bit of grease, that grease runs out eventually because of the constant opening and closing of the tray. Make sure that the tray on the back it has some metal toobs, make sure that they have a decent amount of greace so that the tray won't stay stuck. The lazer well the ps2 has a double laze, one on top of the other. this part is very delicate so it's really hard to clean. also make sure that nothing makes contact with the fan because that can cause over heating.

You know what was good about the first version of the ps2. well you know that the first ps2 brought a dust catching net at the back were the fan is. when i was cleaning it once i pushed the net too hard and it broke from the glue. that net was making contact with the fan for a while. it was ripped for about a month. the fan kept pulling the net in until it came to a point that it was over heating. Now this is the cool part, the first ps2 was so well built that even for this problem they had a back up plan. The ps2 detects over heating, it shuts off automatically and the ps2 dropped a piece from the inside, so that way electricity won't run and it couldn't be turned on. A way of auto protecting it self. what we did was we opened it, we finished ripping the the net out and then cleaned it and put the piece back and it was that simple and in about an half hour we were playing games againg.

So yeah having the first wave of ps3s might be a good thing and at the same time a bad thing. software compatibility uses might be bad but then on the other hand you might get a ps3 that is more shock resistance and brings more protection.

Yeah I found this out on my SCPH-10000 (very first model) when I forgot to put the heat-sink back in (I dunno how i forgot it, that thing is the hugest heat sink i've ever seen), fortunately it had its own safety mechanism, that shuts itself down if it got too hot, luckily for me it didnt fry the EE and GS. :D

Normally, when you quote someone and don't post, you agree with them 100%, so his post was alright.

I now have enough money for the PSP and some things to buy for it, but wait thats not all I have about three hundred dollars to soend for when the PS3 comes out. (I forgot that I had any money in my bank account.) So I'm going to reserve a PS3 when that time comes around and buy it the very first day it hits american shores. I can't wait, although it won't be for a while.

I am getting a PS3 on Launch date and pay $45 for 2 year warranty at EB. I did that with my PS2 and after 2 years I returned it and got a brand new one. Just on time because the original was starting to shake like a jack hammer everytime I put in a CD disc game ................... disc error

also if any of you guys know how to open a ps2 make sure that the 2 lazer lens aren't opaque or dirty because that's what maybe causing longer loads for your games. if you haven't opened it since you bought it well you should and experiment. it's like a jigsaw puzzle, you just have to remember were everything goes and put it back once you opened it. the lazer has a plastic cover you can remove that and once removed the lazer can be lifted and underneath the top lazer that's were the other lazer is. make sure both are clean and that specially the bottom lazer. once you do it and pop a ps2 game in you will notice far faster loading times. also the lazer can get dirty out of nothing, so try not to change the ps2 from places that have drastic temperature changes. that makes the lazer opaque too. anyways laters.

I've heard that vacuuming from the front also helps since the dust collects in the "openings".

rev>thanu
10-24-2004, 05:12 PM
yeah i does but i rather use a small brush because it goes deeper into the openings of the dust catching net. to clean it like that just use a gentel up and down motion and never push it in. the dust will come right out, it's also good not to let alot of dust collect on these nets or the fan, because it doesn't let air circulate into the console. all if you use a pushing motion it might rip the net and instead of cleaning it you would be pushing the dust further in. still no need to worrie because the lazer is so well protected that it's really hard for dust to get it. your lazer would get opaque from temperature changes first than you seeing dust reach it of course unless your somebody that doesn't care about the huge purchase you just made and have it in a place were alot of dust collects and you never clean you darn console. I doubt you guys would do that.

I put my PS2 inside a backpack when not used... So I doubt TOO much dust would collect inside my backpack :D.
