Last month I spent 20 hours sitting aroud EB games in the mall I live next to taking a survay to see weather that game would sell a consule and the awnser is yes. I beleave that by re-releasing this game on the PS3 Sony and Squre Enix could have huge succses in the next generation. Out of the 537 people I asked 384 people said oh hell yeah 77 people said as long as there is no changes 57 said that they had never played it and 19 said no because they hait everything from Sony or Square Enix. I think that Sony and Square should strongly think about a remake of this game. It would be awsome for FF fans and it may bring back some Xbox converters.

Ive never understood the reason behind them not remaking this game on the Ps2 it would of been a garuanteed smash hit i for one would of bought it just to play this great game with improved graphics can you just imagine the already stunning fmv scenes looking better !!

So yes i say make a remake on PS3 can you imagine this as a launch Title that would truely be a dream for an Avid RPG and Square fan such as myself but i have my doubts they will do it, wouldnt they have made the remake by now ? there wasnt really a reason to wait for the PS3 to make it.

It'll be the greatest game ever made.
Even if it is a remake.

They were remaking it... but they lost so much money on Spirits Within that they cancelled both the Final Fantasy VII remake, but the FFVIII remake as well! Thanks Spirits Within... you fucked something else up

Oh, and they are remaking FFVII for the PS2, BTW, for those at home keeping count... they're keeping it completely identical, though, so nothing's gonna change 'cept the graphics, for thos FFHeads out there :D

I believe I caught that in my friend's EGM (this month's)... or was that GI? I don't recall... hm... Google it!!

Or not... I'm not getting anything. All I keep getting is that it's a rumor... damned shitty gaming mags, making me think good things are gonna be happening!!! Then again... this is the same mag that still thinks RE4 is GC exclusive, that used to think MGS3 starred Solid Snake ( ) quoted incorrect battery life on the PSP, and still thinks that it's price is unannounced... and this is the latest issue!

It's not a remake it's an extension of FFVII. Kinda what FFX-2 is to FFX. Maybe the correct term is "spin-off".

Agreed.

...What comes to to the idea of remaking one of the most legendary RPG (FFVII ofcourse) to the ps3, I think it's a very good idea!, but a real remake, not any kind of sequel thing. FFVII is satarting to be so old that there's probably many younger gamers out there who have missed the game. And ofcourse any FF fan would play it once (or many times as I would do  ) again if it had all the graphix remaked for ps3. It would probably be quite difficult to do it with all the new graphix and there would be a temptation to do things different with the capabilities of the ps3, but if anyone can do it, it's SquareEnix.

ff7 would be ok. but i would far rather see ff4 or 6 remade in a 3d world. ya, ps3 versions of those 2 would be pure sex.

Yeah. Remakes of the FFs mede for Super Nintendo crossed my mind too, especially FFVI. Everybody knows FFVII even if you haven't played it, but I think very few knows how good FFVI is. The graphix of course are really old, but the battle system, story, etc. are as good as in any other FF that came after it.

heh if Square-Enix can pull of a remake who wouldnt want to buy that. I remember even on the cd case the FF7 game came in said : Possible the greatest game ever made..,
i mean i dont need to write this but picture this, Cloud- updated graphics, updated graphics the limit breakers, the summons,
omgf it would be the best of the best for the second time!
btw to my knowledge was Cloud the last heroic style Char that Square made for FF series?

yes he was everyone else was just scared little girly charactors ...except for squal but he was shy i didn't like that anyway a remastering would be great but a remake i don't know if they added all the story line that we didn't get from japan it would be worth it.

Squall wasn't shy, he just didn't know to express himself. He didn't like to try new things, or invite an oppourtunity for ridicule...

But goddamn, was he a badass, eh? Lionheart... oh! All of the damned hits and 9999's, and the explosions and the flying... pure badass :D

Even with his short, lined jacket, he looked more like a badass than Cloud could ever hope to achieve. VIII still remains my fav FF... I don't think anything could change that. Not even a shitty remake

I haven't played them myself in years, so my mems a little off...

Anyhoo, I'm a lover of FFVIII (first one I played... that may be the reason...) and I like FFVII... IX just didn't do it for me. I know alot of people who bash it, but I'll refrain from doing that... it just didn't fit me, and I'll leave it at that

I really just abandoned it after FFX. The story was bleh, so you're left to assume that it's instead about character development, right? Wrong. I thought that was what was going on, but I soon realized that the characters were pretty much two-dimensional... none of them seem to grow or eveolve over the course of the game. They never seem real, which I think is a real error when a game has the story FFX did

I've only played a demo of X-2, and left it at that :D

I've only seem FFXI played... alot. It just didn't draw me in :?

I'll leave FF alone unless I hear some incredible things about FFXII, then I might come back around. Until then, Ill stick to VIII and the original for NES :D

Honestly, though, I've never been an RPG fan. Too many just seem cookie-cutter, which is why I've never bothered to log them into my memory. Not so with Xenosaga, however. I can honestly say that Xenosaga has made up 50% of the RPGs I like discussing :D

It just fits me better. Like a glove, actually. I can't explain it, but it just brought me in... for 15 hours, one day :D

So I'm afraid FF has dropped out of my regular vocab

Yes I have seen the same decline in the ff story line( the thing that makes ff...ff) but with the failure in these story lines they have square has brought in a new person to right there story lines for the ff ...so you will be seeing a new twist to the ff games. for good or bad we don't yet know but one thing is for curtain they will be different...so i think you should at least rent the new ones to see if you like what you see :D

The "new guy" was already part of the group making FFX (Sakaguchi got fired during that time if I remember well). That explains the different touch in the game when comparing it to the previous ones. It seems to me that Sakaguchi always had a vision for he's FF tittles and that's what made FF...well FF :) . Now the new guy(s) making the storys for FFs to come will have their own visions and we will just have to wait and see what it will end up to be, but we will not see new FFs as I (we) have come to know them. Don't get me wrong, the new ones are going to be good RPGs nontheless simply because they are no amateurs in SquareEnix and the name Final Fantasy has a great echo (even though a virtue called honour can be found in too few matters whan it comes to business now days).

By the way I have heard rumours that Uematsu (the music composer for FF) has also left FF  . I don't know if it is true though, I sure hope not, because music is one of the very best things in FFs.

i also hear that but i thought i was just a rumor but we will see. as with the new ff's i just feel that the story line has been pushed aside for grapics and game play...don't get me wrong i like to see good graphics and i like indepth gameplay but i fell the story line was the huge seller for the ff1-9 it kept the people coming back but with this new guy the story is just sliping...it's sad it's making me queston whether to continue colecting all the ff's or leaving it....hopfuly this new game will restore my faith.

Yes. That's right. The new story will be good I'm not doubting that, but it will be different compared to previous FF's that's all, actually I think everything will be quite different in FFs to come. So at least I will keep buying the new ones even though I truely can't believe that someone can do a equal FF to what Sakaguchi made  .

what a post dappa....anyways that is way if you have heard me talk about the ff series i always ask people who talk good about ff 10 and 10-2 if they have played the older ones on the ps1 and snes because compared they are nothing alike...there mostly all good (there are 2 i really just don't like) and i will more then likly continue to play them.
