Polyphony is all about graphics and presentation - I'd say, if you're looking for the best visuals, go with Gran Turismo.

They are two totally different games, GT4 is all about realism while RR is more arcade style. GT4 will have better graphics, but for me Ridge Racers will be more fun. But I will get both, they complement each other.

Like Wobbleshot said. Different gameplay styles. I'm gong for both as well. Of course in addition to GT4 PS2 version! That'd be pretty crazy if they integrated the two together to be able to use the PSP and PS2 together. Like play on your PS2 and then save and continue with the PSP. Of course with not as many tracks and/or cars. But hey I know I'm dreaming....

im getting both.. i will probely be getting ridge racers 1st with my psp
I just don't see how you can compare the games. Especially judging both games on their graphical merits, seems a bit shallow.

No your not.
1. Polyphony has stated that the two games will most likely be intergrated into each other.
2. There will be the same number of cars and tracks in the 2 games.
3. You will be able to play on your PS2 then connect your PSP to your PS2, and upload the save to your PSP.
I found this info in the forums, i dont remember where.
EDIT: If this info i wrong, please dont blame me.
I found it somewhere in the "PSP games" forum on this site.

Woah, damn! That's awesome! I don't know what to say.... I'm just shocked!
Nevermind, here's a question I'm wondering about:
If you import the PSP, will it be recognized by a different region PS2? Just curious...

It should be..
But i havent been able to find any info on this matter.
except that i mean that a few months ago i read something about sony claiming the PSP and PS2 will work together cross region.
EDIT: If your PSP is Jap and your PS2 is EU there should theoreticly be no problems, as they are the same region.
But im not sure if the Japs use NTSC, that could be a problem as eu uses PAL.
Americans use NTSC to i think, but it's another region so i don't think it would work.

Yep, NA uses NTSC and EU uses PAL. JPN also uses NTSC. I don't think this would make a difference though too much since you're not playing the game on a TV (with the PSP of course). But regarding different region lockout, ie a Japanese console versus a US console, that is what I'm concerned about... correct me if I'm wrong

Far as i know, NTSC is another kind of programming.
That means, if you buy a game in the US and live in EU, you can't play it, cause its another coding.
Unfortunately what you say about the regions are true, unless i remember correctly about that article i read(first post in this topic).
Please reply as soon as possible.
P.S. Sorry for my bad english. i'm from denmark so i don't really know how to express myself that well.

Regarding the differences of NTSC and PAL, from what I understand, NTSC and PAL generally differ mainly in the output to the TV. 60 hz as opposed to 55 hz or something like that. NTSC is displayed properly on NTSC televisions as 60hz. Same goes for PAL, except a different hz frequency (?). That is why if you modify a system, you can play PAL games on a NTSC and vice versa, however the output to the TV will not allow the game to be displayed properly on the TV. Of course this is by modifying, and in this case we are talking about a nonmodified unit. So yeah.... what was the question again?
I like all of the racing games! The Ridge Racer voice doesn't bother me too much. As for NFSU, I like the game and all, but I hate the fact that the only way to gain reputation and such is to make your car look as ugly as possible. Bleh. I can't wait to play Burnout on the PSP, should be fun!

Correct
But it might be hard to make NTSC take in a pal unit.
Especially if you're gonna play your PSP on your TV.

That would be the problem there I believe. Not unless Sony decides to have a frequency selector to select between the PAL and NTSC hz. But I guess we'll have to see when it comes out, or someone email Sony Japan and ask them. :D

PSP doesn't have TV output. Thats why the games can be region-free.

it doesnt have TV output to stop pirating!
and for the NFSU comment i understand completly..you have to make the car ugly to get respect its stupid but yea most ricers are ugly anyway

I'm going to go with Ridge Racers on this, seeing as I'm not sure if we've seen any GT4M pics, and also the fact that Polyphony Digital has already said that the PSP version will not be the same version as the PS2 game, and that there is a possibility that the maximum amount of cars on the screen will be 2.
Ridge Racers just looks amazing. I'm getting GT4 for the PS2, I might get GT4M, depending on how it is.

How can you say that, The Ridge Racer series is one of the best.

If you've read the november edition of the magazine PLAY/EDGE(dont remember), you would know that the number of cars on screen, may have to be changed because they want to keap ALL THE TRACKS AND CARS IN BOTH GAMES  .
We have screens and videos of GT4M, you can recognize them by being in widescreen format.
EDIT: Sorry Grandia you are right :( , but still it might work.

Actually it's to preserve the level of graphics.

Yeah because the number of cars on screen wouldn't affect storage capacity right? But if the PSP did not have the horsepower (yikes what a horrible pun) of the PS2 then that would require limiting the number of on screen cars.
