Keep it on-topic please.Yeah ok....I think that Metal Gear Solid 4 will be released in the 4th quarter of 2006,marking the PS3's 1st anniversary, it will have competition though, Halo 3, which will be released around that time(MS confirmed a continuation to the Halo series on a future platform.)And of course, you can't leave Nintendo out, they will have Metroid Prime 3, so it will be the battle of the shooters!

Sons of liberty was based on this Facility like envirnments and Snake eater mostly in the jungle. Now in what kind of environments do you think or you would like to see the story of MGS4? I would like it to be based on a city, not any kind of GTA thing, but I'd like to see buildings, streets, vehicles, more other persons than enemies, etc. The gameplay could perhaps be some kind of a "undercover cop" like mixed to MGS style action :) .

The usual setting of a MGS game is a remote place flooded with some kinds of terrorist group, so although it would be interesting to see MGS in such an open-ended envireronment, I don't think fans would like it.

You are probably right, but if they keep doing the MGSs to come with more or less with the same settings it might lose some of it's attraction. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that they should change everything, because I really like the consept as it is now, but with the possibilities of the ps3 they could do MGS4's environments a bit differently.

Yes, I understand that the PS3 could open many new horizons for Kojima, but we have all gotten used to the setting of the MGS games, it's like drinking milk for 4 years, and than having chocolate milk.

As a fan I would like to hope that Kojima, and Konami stay true to the series and that don't change the original environment that Solid Snake was meant to step on.

If you're a fan, you know what I mean, you wouldn't like to see snake anywhere else than where you usually see him, so what I'm saying is that the environment can be changed, but not as drastically as described above by Theo(a city, c'mon!)

I hope in what ever they call the new MG since 3 was supose to be last for snake and his sons . They have more under water stuff that was one thing i love about MGS 3 being able to shoot under water . they should also add more CQC stuff like snake can throw men off stuff and at other people . i also hope for there to be more effects like snow , more rain and real time change as it turns from day to night .

The Next Metal Gear game should have really big open areas, i've noticed that because of the limitations of hardware the game had to be split into smaller areas, these small areas allowed for quick escapes. The next Metal Gear game should utilize streaming disk technology to allow for seamless transitions between the diffrent locations in the game, that would allow for a more immersive game and would allow the game to seem more continuous. Just take for example times when your caught by a guard, the alarm goes off then you run to the next area hid and wait for the count to reach 0. If the game was seamless then the guard who was chasing you would keep going until you loose him.

Has anyone thought about the title? I mean, the last five games(MGS,MGS2: SONS OF LIBERTY, MGS: SUBSTANCE-PS2,MGS:SUBSTANCE-XBOX, METAL GEAR SOLID 3: SNAKE EATER) were all Metal Gear Solid,it makes you wonder, what if it's Metal Gear insert name here. They are doing the same for the PSPs itteration of the series, it makes me wonder if they'll do the same for PS3.

Er...What's wrong with the placement of "nontheless"? English is not my strongest area when it comes to writing, but I hope all of you are able to understand me.

MGS3 will be released here sometime in march, if I remember well. I can't wait, or maybe I should import it.

Man. I'm loving MGS 3. If Kojima was to change any thing for the next Metal Gear game I would ask for more in game action elements. A lot of the compaints of Metal Gear come from most of the action happening in the cinematics and not the game itself. Just think of jumping out of planes like in GTA in the next Metal Gear game. Like in the intro of Metal gear but during gameplay. Half action, half stealth.

Yeah. Lets hope so. Also about changing Metal Gears environment its hard to imagine Snake in a large open city but I could see him in a more urban city like environment. Not as high tech and more modern for a change of pace. Kinda like the old Syphon Filter games. But with stealth and an over the shoulder camera.

I can see a mixture of the current system and a new one working fine. Over all it would be behind your back but when you press yourself against a wall the camera would swing in front of you like it does now.
I just got an idea for the gameplay. It would be team based in some points and in others you would be by yourself. That would set up online play too. The single player mode would have you with a team of others (Marines?). Of couse you would be the expert in about everything but mainly you would use small arms and machineguns. Some missions would have you with the team others will have you infiltrating a base by yourself(maybe you lost your team in an explosion).

they should make it so you can turn the camera 360° with the analog stick, press r3/l3 to lock it. The game would also need some decent first person view though.

Great idea I was just thinking about something similar to that. But another idea I have is that they should invent some online-games as well, hid n go seek would be cool. There would be about 8 people online at the same time, one person is the seeker and that person has a tranquilizer dart gun to catch the other person, once your your caught your KO for a few seconds (just like in the game when you KO a guard), then you chase another person. Everone else whos not it can hid just like in the real game, you can hid in lockers under-neath things and extra things they can invent. Ther winner is the person who got caught the least.
Other games they can add are Tag (where you punch combo someone then their it), cops n robbers (about the some thing as tag but its with teams, once caught you need to catch you friends).

What do you think??

To kevin I would rather have a camera that you have some control over and also controls itself. When you say 360 degree camera I think of Splinter Cell wich camera was fully manual. So sometime it got in the way having to constantly control it. So your able to move yourself but when when you don't it changes positions dynamically.

To overload. That a real good idea for online play. I could easily see a mode like. But one would have real guns of course.

I am not talking about resident evil series fix camera. I am talking about new resident evil biohazard’s in game 3d camera. It works absolutely fine. I have downloaded 6 different movies of that demo from IGN.com. You may also check it from the same site. Same six movies are being taken from Demo of resident evil bio hazard. I have read that interview. But the explanation from him is not acceptable. I have died too many times due to outdated camera. I have suffered this problem in boss fight of ‘The End’. Therefore I seriously expect that they must do something to improve camera control. That’s it.

Yes, I know that splinter cell is a very good game, but comparing it with MGS is not fair at all, because MGS includes everything, like powerful story, drama, action, ultra powerful bosses, cinematic feeling, powerful and emotional dialogs + stealth while splinter only features pure stealth gamplay. I am not saying that splinter cell is bad or worst. No, infact splinter cell is one of the best stealth game, but comparing it with MGS is not fair at all.

No. As far as I know you don't find out about Snakes dead benifactor. Unless I missed something. About Splinter Cell. Metal Gear is killing it. Not to say that its a bad game but when I played Splinter Cell I wasn't impressed by it like I was Metal gear 2. The animations aren't as smooth as Metal Gears and the technology (meaning- the game engine) isn't as slick. There wasn't any collision detection between you and an enemy. So I would get super fustrated when I would be crouching in between a pop machine and a wall, and be stuck because theres somebodystanding in front of me shooting me. I can't wait for the PS3 Metal Gear. 8)

It's Olga Gerlukavich(This is what it said on the cut-senes, so I think it's right). I think that's something else to look for in #4, there are many things that have been left out in MGS3(It's still perfect), and if Konami JPN can add those aspecs of gameplay into the mix, we will undoubtably have the single greatest game ever.

RE4's camera system will work great with Metal Gear's style of gameplay in my eyes. It would beat having the disorienting transition to the first-person camera angle, and having your camera shack violently when shot, which will make you loss sight of your targeted enemy. I could definitely understand if you could zoom out the camera in certain areas though.

I wish that the story continued after the good ending in the first Metal Gear: Solid. I never saw the ending where Meryl was still alive until I baught Twin Snakes because it was incredibly hard to resist Ocelot's torcher in the Playstation version. After I saw Snake's alternate reality where he finally gets a break, and get the girl; I was so angry that the game did not follow that ending because Ocelot still speaks of Solidus, so the story could still continue on in a similar fashion. The scene where the two brothers have a final stare into each others eyes with contempt and understanding was absolutely amazing!

I JUST GOT RE4! I might review it later on, I am almost finished, maybe by Friday I'll have something written.

I have seen some really awesome RE4 preview vidoes, and if Kojima and Konami can pull this camara system off, I will never play anything beside MGS.

Merial remains alive ‘in twin snake’. But she had died in real playstation MGS game. :?

No amod, I think you could save meryl at the end. I know I did, I finished the ending with her alive i think.

There are two endings in this game ~SPOILERS~

Basically, one of the endings is I believe you ride of with Otocon, this ending is givin if you sucumb to the part where Ocelot tortures you (Which gives you the stealth item at the end of the game)

The other way it can end is if you don't sucumb to toruture and Meryl stays alive (which shows you riding off with Meryl instead of Otocon, with this ending you recieve the Bandana, which gives you infinite Ammo)

Absolutely right, I had seen first paragraph ending. Ocelot was torching me very badly that’s why I gave up and told him all secrets. I think that’s why I got bad ending, means in that ending meryal died.

I had never thought that there are two endings. Oh my bad. I had missed good ending. :(

In any PS3 sequels of metal gear i think the perfect final boss, and im sure somebody has already said this, would be Big boss and your snake (the original snake) or [the original] snake as the final boss and your snake and meryls baby, which i will code name baby snake, the ultimate soldier. Or even combine metal gear and splinter cell and make snakes partner sam fisher, and in the end he becomes a playable character, so you can go through the game a whole different way, but only if you don't submit to torture by Ocelots ghost (because by this time he'll already be dead of course), AWESOME  , damn im getting ahead of myself.

  That was funny. Ok, I think we might see bigboss as main final boss in MGS4 while Solid snake as main hero/character.

BigBoss would be nice, but how will Kojima explain Snake's, Liquid's, Ocelot's, Solidus', and Roy Campbell's dead set belief that Big Boss died? Kojima even went out of his way to explain that the Military had BigBoss' remains, which was also part of Liquid's demands in the first Metal Gear: Solid iteration. (I don't mean to attack anyone though so don't take this rashly)

I also find your idea quite funny KillA2006, but Snake is already the greatest solider in the world. Hey! How about a combination of the two biggest badasses on the PS2 entertainment system: Snake and Dante! Gorden Freeman and Snake would make a funny combination also since both are known for the ability to elude the greatest odds and get out of any situation.

What would Kojima call it, Metal Life Gear: The team of Badasses?

Do you have beaten MGS3? I seriously have doubt on this? Because if you have beaten MGS3, then you will come to know what I am talking about. I don’t want to spoil MGS3 story. But at the end of the game you will come to know why I have guessed big boss as a final boss for MGS4.

Oh! my bad. I didn't think that MGS3 would give a possibility like that since it takes place before the first two games, but I will make sure to play it soon. Well...........after I have played the life out of Resident Evil 4!!! lol

Hey Amod, how does replayability stand on the last chapter of the Metal Gear: Solid story (I made sure to put in Solid becaused the series transitioned from Metal Gear to the next chapter which is Metal Gear: Solid)? I already know that the gameplay is phenomenal!

I have beaten this game only one time. Therefore I don’t know special replay value of the game. Oh yes, but second time player gets all the boss camouflage. I have obtained all.

how does replayability stand

well after finishing, you get the Patriot. A weapon with unlimited ammo and now loading. So you can enjoy a run-and-gun game style. That is fun after sneaking your way the first time.
And about replay value in general: of course every gamer wants replay value. You find that more evident in competition games like sports, FPS, fighters, etc. online also gives a huge replay value. So you can keep playing a game like Ratchet & Clank for a long time. But for the rest of the games like adventures, puzzlers, platformers, etc. you don't have that much replay. Yes, in games lie Jack 3 you can go back and play more mini-missions, but that can only do so much.
If you really enjoy a game you'll replay it again and again no matter what it offers. I played Ace Combat 4 for 34 hours. I got an 'Ace' level in all missions in all difficulties. And I still couldn't put it down. Until someone erased my save! ...oh ..the pain...

Well I asked because the first Metal Gear was absolutely fun to replay, and its remake, Twin Snakes, was very fun to replay also, but MGS 2 wasn't very fun to replay in my eyes seeing that I loved the Tanker and Arsenal Gear, but the Big Shell seemed bland and repetitive on its second go around. I guess Raiden was the real reason that MGS2 didn't warrant much of a replay from me.

I felt alienated when 80% of the game was played as Raiden.........I felt violated when 5% was played as naked Raiden.

When I first played MGS3, after landing in the woods and snake looked at the camera for the first time, I got a heart attack! Ooh, that Kojima and his cold humor!

Very true. But I don’t think that MGS4 will be a last episode of the series. And as far as point of main boss, yes, I also expect that this honor must be awarded to Bigboss.

Big Boss is dead, and I don't think Kojima would play around with more cloning, or anything like that just to bring back Big Boss. Basically, with the enemies that we have seen, Big Boss has been recreated a few times (look at Solidus, he even had his eye taken out). Liquid/Ocelot needs to be dealt with before any major new enemies join the fray.
