Death Jr. Comes A' Calling
Exclusive: The littlest soul collector brings welcome darkness to this happy holiday with the gift of new info and screens.

December 25, 2004 - Our first look at the power of the PlayStation Portable was a glimpse at death.
Not actual death, mind you -- we survived. Or metaphorical death, although the shock of seeing that kind of graphic horsepower being planned for a handheld was enough to give many hearts a stop. Rather, it was the son of Death -- Death Jr.
Back at GDC 2004, Backbone Entertainment was the first company to showcase a work-in-progress demo of a potential PSP project. With its next-generation lighting and effects, the project looked the part of a big console action title -- only in this case, the destined platform for this platformer was to be a machine small enough to fit in your pocket.
We haven't heard much from Death Jr. since, but the little fellow (affectionately known as DJ) has been hard at work in the netherworld for his final arrival, with a comic book and feature film all in the works. And at last, just in time for our holiday break as we prepare for the PSP's launch in early 2005, Death Jr. has arrived to reap in the New Year.
