Guess what the Naughty Dog guys are working on....

You will be blown away by Jak Racing.

Guess what Insomniac is working on

PS3 FPS (launch title) to take on Halo.

These aren't rumors they are 100% confirmed.

not exactly earth-shattering, but good to see more PS3 news (rumor?) coming in.

I am 100% agreed with you. I am also a huge fan of jack series. I also want to see jack4 not jack racing.

Megadrive, answer something. Why would companies as successful as Naughty Dog, and Insomniac studios do this? To upset their fan bases, and possibly lose half of the fans?

Apprently you dont remember Disruptor, arguably one of the best FSP of its time, courtesy of a game developer which has never dissapointed.

Vaguely remember it to be honest, here's a couple of reviews anyway:

Gamespot (http://www.gamespot.com/ps/action/disruptor/review.html)

IGN (http://psx.ign.com/articles/150/150135p1.html)

IMO, Insomniac have been very consistant up to now.

alot of you aren't grasping the fact that insomniac are extremely good developers, and that they are working on a FPS for the Ps3 is great news. R&C3's multiplayer was very fun from what i hear, not to mention the extremely cool SP. Now think of the great graphics they were able to get out of the Ps2. Now transfer that work and dedication to the Ps3. No doubt that FPS will be a pretty huge franchise on the Ps3, it might be what Killzone in someways should have been for the Ps2 (though comparing them is hard). Simply because Insomniac doesn't put out crappy games.

As far as Jak Racing, seems cool, but i wouldn't sweat them not yet saying a Jak 4 is coming, im sure (95% at least sure) we'll see a new trilogy with a whole new story based in the Jak And Dax universe. It just wont be a launch title.

With all this news, i wouldn't be surprized it Sony is considering picking up Insomniac or even just as full time 2nd part devs. I think right now they just have a contract of exclsuivity for R&C franchise, but i might be wrong

I also want to see Jack4 Why? Because jack 3 is such a great/out standing game. I really don’t want to see jack and Dexter in completely different area like racing. It would be really sad situation for me if they decide to switch series from such great franchise to racing.

I just played Jak3 for the first time (haven't played the other ones) after playing a bit with the original Crash Bandicot. Jak 3 is nice, but after playing Crash I have to say that I would probably be more happy if somebody would develop a good 3d platformer with crazy jumping action than all those action adventures

are there any good 3d platformers for the PS 2?

Ratchet and clank1,2,3 jack1,2,3, sly scooper 1,2, these are the best titles you will ever find on any console.

Well, as far as the Jak Racing and Insomniac FPS go, I think it's bullshit - I need more than "these aren't rumors they are 100% confirmed." I want some real confirmation. As for Platformers, PS2 has you covered:

Ape Escape 2
Jak & Daxter (or "Jak") 1-3
Sly Cooper 1 and 2
Ratchet & Clank
and a bunch more (http://ps2.ign.com/reviews/?constraint.grid.genre1=Platformer&constraint.grid .sort=game%2Btitle&constraint.grid.sortorder=asc).
I highly recommend Klonoa 1 (PSOne) and 2 (PS2).
Here are a few to avoid: Kya: Dark Lineage, Malice, and Vexx.

So there you go.

thanks Plumster!

Klonoa 2 and 1 seem to be the sort of Platformer I am looking for :)

I am also trying to get a copy of Jumping Flash 1 and 2, but it's quite though to get a hold of them.

I have played Malice. It is a very good game. But game is too short. That’s the only problem I have with that game. That’s it. :)

My biggest issue is how Malice changed from a graphical "power-house" to a generic-looking Platformer. If you can, hunt down the very first batch of screen shots for the game. (Keep in mind, the game was originally an X-Box exclusive.) As for Jumping Flash, people always comment on how difficult it is to get the two games, but, whenever I check eBay, I always see prices below $30 USD. I say, if you really want the games and are willing to pay a little extra, it shouldn't be too difficult. If anything, finding them in stores like GameStop is probably rare.

IGN has given 5.6 review score to Malice? Now come-on that game is not that bad.

Well, here's what critics thought of the PS2 (http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/ps2/malice) and X-Box (http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbx/malice) versions. By the way, here are pics from the game's first unveiling:
http://xboxmedia.ign.com/media/previews/image/malice/malice18.jpg
Nice modeling with few blurry textures.

http://xboxmedia.ign.com/media/previews/image/malice/malice19.jpg
Apparently, there were going to be huge bosses. (Have you come across this area in your version?)

Here are pics of the final version (It's the X-Box version, even though I found the images in the PS2 section. Good job, IGN. We salute you.):
http://ps2media.ign.com/ps2/image/malice_020304_03.jpg
Overall, the texture work isn't bad.

http://ps2media.ign.com/ps2/image/malice_020304_02.jpg
If those "trees" weren't in the background, this pic wouldn't look bad at all.

Since Malice changed considerably since that unveiling, and many promised features were scrapped just to get the game onto store shelves, then I can see how the scores could be so low. How would you say the game is? Is it fun? Do you agree with any of the comments of the critics?

I got your point. The level of visuals has been cut down to great extent. Therefore that game got 5.6 score from IGN.com

Personally, I don't have an opinion on the game - I've never played it. However, I can see why critics are disappointed with it, especially since Platformers evolved considerably during Malice's development. (Thanks to titles like Jak II and Ratchet & Clank.) I am interested in how the game is based on its own merits - How would you rate it?

Actually I have played only half and hour game. My friend told me that malice is a very
short game. And as far as point of review, I had never seen any screenshots like
above which has been posted by you. Therefore at first glance game was ok to me. That’s
why I get confused with IGN score, which is nun other than 5.6. But thanks to your
screenshots now I got complete idea why they have given so low score to that game.

It is 'rumored' that there will be a Jack racing. And that is not even correct. It is 'expected' by gaming mags and sites that it may happen. My guess is that if it does happen, it will be for PSP.
About good platformers; I think Jack&Daxter was the most fun in the series. It was funny, Daxter doesn't stop being silly, and it was a 'platformer'. Jack 2 was a big mini-mission GTA-type. Jack3 was more of a racing game than a platformer. All three are amazing both in technology and design. I had the most fun playing the first one, but that may be only because it was then a new game. Just like the feeling I have that there is something MGS2 had that MGS3 doesn't. maybe it was the 'awe' the first one made. A lot of people bought PS2 just because of that memorable demo …aaah..the nostalgia…

I personally think that ‘Jack racing’ will be a waste game of such a great series. There is
absolutely no need to change jack series at completely different direction. I am
sorry to say that but as a die-hard fan of the series I must write what I think about
‘jack racing’. :(

Their not, its like Mario Cart and Mario, as well as Crash racing and Crash the platformer. Seperate games with seperate objectives based in the same universe.

Plus Naughty Dog already firmly stated the Jak (J-A-K supposed "die hard fans" could atleast get the spelling right) Universe is not over. Only that part of the story is over. Picture Jak 1/2/3 as Star Wars 1/2/3. They said they will either do a pre-quel or continue from where Jak 3 left off with a WHOLE new trilogy in the same Jak universe.

So PLEASE people, Shut The Fuck Up Thank You, thats a 5 dollar sur-charge for the re-explination of ND's plans for the Jak series and 20 bucks interest every minute after that until Someone finalizes purchase. :D

And forget about surcharge and interest. :P
