Its heard that there could be tivo on the PS3. It would be cool to have games , music, movies, and my favorite tv shows on my gaming system.

It might on the rumored "All-In-One" media PS3 that Sony might make. Like X-Box:Next, Sony might make diffrent versions of PS3. The "All-In-One" being more expensive. Sort of like the PSX. The key word being rumored. It is also possible on a PS3 tha has a HDD built in. Again that is contingent on Sony making a PS3 with a HDD built in, which is a damn good idea.

This has been rumored way too many times before. I honestly don't know what to expect in the PS3 since Tivo is new and old at the same time. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
although PSX wasn't a success, I think Sony will have another go at it if PS3 prooves successful. after a while, there is a strong chance we may see thins happining again. if it does, let us hope it deliveres better than PSX.

Well I personally wouldn't want TiVo because the PS3 is meant to be a gaming system and could put better stuff (like 2 more controller ports) instead of that.
'conversion' is the big thing today. PS3 will of course be about gaming, plus things like DVD and BD playback and maybe MP3 as well. However, in the future, I expect digital recorders and/or TiVos to feature a PS3- not the other way around. In any case, it depends on demand.

Well if they do release a PS3 with TiVo, they better have a cheaper non-TiVo version.

Wasn't the PS2 a gaming system? Wasn't the Xbox a gaming system? What happen to a console's fanbase when it ONLY positioned itself as just a gaming system?
My point is, a console can still be a gaming system with added bonus features to attract a wider audience and not just "gamers." As long as those added features don't over-shadow what the console really it at heart, its position in the market should be minimum.

I hear this so many times that it's not ever funny anymore. Back when the PS2 was getting ready to launch the market in Japan, Sony announced the new DVD format it would be utilizing just moments after they found a way for it to be backwards compatible with CDs, and this is when DVD was really popular and expensive. People predicted a price of around $500. It turned out, when the console launched, it was $300. The reason be, Sony gave the PS2 console the standard version, which was almost basic if not completely, compared to the ones on the market, therefore reducing the cost of the console as a whole. If they were to add Tivo, I have no doubt that the very same marketing procedure would play a roll as well. It is absurd to think otherwise after all these years since they've been competing in this market.

cough * Ninty*cough .. cough*mentality*cough
Look where that took them.
This is like saying PS2 should have been only for pure gaming, PSP as well. Now the launch an audio/video player for DS and GBA. The irony..
