There are a few sites that tell what they think is the timeline, but there is no official timeline.

Go here. (http://www.nintendoland.com/zelda/)

It has the most reasonable response to your question.

all that is certain is that OoT came first then MM, then WW, and the last games were Legend of Zelda and return of Link.

Stop with this timeline thing - there is no coherent flow of events. The Legend of Zelda is about the triumph of good over evil and the power of fate. Such themes are indifferent to the passing of time.

i just remembered....i was playing legend of zelda 2 the other day when i noticed that each village i went into had a very interesting name. i dunno if y'all have noticed, but the villages all had names like the sages (rauru, saria...etc.). weird..

i dont count the cd-i zeldas as part of the series, just an outlet of the game, kinda of like resident evil 0, 1, 2, 3, code veronica x, 4, and 5 eventually, are the real res. evil series, where as the ps2 games res. evil dead aim, and outbreak are offsprings of the franchise. as for the timeline, thanx, but ime starting to remember something like this:

OOT
Majoras Mask
oracle of seasons/ages
windwaker
a link to the past
links awakening
the legend of zelda
zelda 2: links adventure
