That cool and all, we all know it'll be a March release but, this is the same Game that told UK consumers “the PSP will retail for £500” whenever someone enquired.
I for one am still awaiting Sony's official release date.

It is also a Wednesday, isn't this unusual seeing as most games/consoles are released on Fridays in Europe (Sunday in Japan).

I can't fully think that this is true, but almost sure. However this is very great news for us in Europe, 9 days shorter then expected. Thanks for bringing it up old mate samar.

well, prices that high were going around the internet, game didnt say they got the 500 pounds estimate from sony, that was games estimate price.
As for the release date they have had word from sony, so they are most possibly right and yes i do know that consoles / games are usually out on a friday but who knows for that matter it may be out on the 18th, but game have said 16th so ive marked that in my calendar * and 18th and 25 th lol*.

hey, i'm from birmingham myself. went to merry hill the other day to enquire about the psp, and the woman at game said that the psp will out around march, but she didn't give me no specific date.
Then on the way out, she said that the psp is rubbish anyway, and to get the nintendo ds cuz it's way better.
Wat bull. I'm beginin to think that game employee's are ALL being paid to promote nintendo.

i would only believe a game employee if they were pinocchio!
It's all hearsay, i will only believe it when the announcement comes from sony. We know it's march, that is not long away.
But then I can say that as I have one, so I understand why you want to know the date. As do I because that means Uk games!!

Heres something that was reported December 04 about the topic.
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/12/02/sony_psp_euro_rollout/
Published Thursday 2nd December 2004 11:42 GMT
Sony will launch the PlayStation Portable (PSP) in Europe on 25 March 2005, according to the company's own retailer-oriented sales and marketing documentation.
So notes UK website Spong, which claims to have seen said "official" information.
That Sony has been planning to ship PSP over here by the end of Q1 2005 is no great surprise. Certainly, the company's recent annual strategy meeting featured a company roadmap which clearly pegged the handheld's US and European release to late fiscal 2004 - Sony's current financial year ends 31 March 2005, six days after the European launch date cited by Spong.
That said, back in May this year, reports were pointing to 18 March 2005 as the date for PSP's European debut. Both dates are Fridays, a traditional release day for games consoles. The new date is only a week after the old one, giving Sony seven extra days to punch out more PSPs from its production plants.
Sony rival Nintendo will announce the European release date for its DS handheld console early next month. Again, DS' launch date was previously reported as taking place on 18 March 2005, so Sony may well have moved its own date to avoid a clash.
Spong claims that Sony is already pitching PSP to retailers and is touting the idea that they give over shelf space exclusively to the new console. What Sony is offering in return - if indeed it is proffering such a plan - is not known.
Nintendo launched DS in Japan yesterday, and said that the US launch, which took place on Monday, 29 November had seen 500,000 units sold within the first week. ®

March 18th sounds like a good day for it.
By the way, i've been on amazon.co.uk and they have said £180 on pre order off them for just the basic package and not the Value pack. High street retailers will probadly put it out at bout £175 to £200.
Now to sit back, drink and wait for that magical march day to come round.
