Why would I state such a thing? They aren't consistent in style of reviewing and they don't have return reviewers for series of games. Gamespot marked down the Original Devil May Cry saying that it was an okay game but bad in a number of ways (such as gameplay) and yet it has made it's way into greatest hits and has become a PS2 classic. The Second Devil May Cry they stated was "too easy" and marked it down for this flaw. Well that may be fine..but then for the third game they got a reviewer who hadn't played the series before (most obviously), was bad at action games (most obviously), and marked the third game down for being too hard.

Wait, the second game is too easy and is bad but the third is too hard? Perhaps the second game was too easy (it's my oppinion that it's ease was caused by bad level design) but the third game was certainly not too hard for fans of the series. If they had someone write the review who is a fan of the series or an action gamer then it would be a much less biased review.

The reviewer stated nothing that was bad about the game except for gameplay and yet it got an 8.9 because of the Tilt category of the review. Tilt is basically a category where the reviewer gets to F*** up the score due to their own flaws (such as being oblivious to obvious hints for puzzles in games or they aren't good at it) and be outright biased about the whole thing.

I have read reviews before where it seemed like the person reviewing had no experience with the genre of the game he was reviewing before and the tilt was low because of that. The problems of IGN and Gamespot review system is starting to irritate me to the point where I don't even read them anymore. The only reason I know about this third DMC review is because of my friend complaining about it.(though I sat down and read/watched it myself)

This is just another one of those games where IGN and Gamespot horribly disagree in the text of the review(IGN said it was the best game capcom's made to date) which says something about the reviewing system at each site being a little crooked when they can reach two different conclusions.

The point of this all is this: Great games like Devil May Cry 3 should not lose sales due to bad reviews because of an unjust review system.

On another note...does anyone have a link to a good video game review site?

Greg Kasavin is the head reviewer at Gamespot, and I am personally disappointed, but logically, it is not that bad. Gamespot has always rated very harshly and it takes a miracle for a game to make above an 8.6. He had to take into account of the noobs to the series who might want to check the game out. I am a huge fan of Devil May Cry, and one of the few who actually beat Dante Must Die mode in the first title, and I have to say that the first few hours of Devil May Cry 3 are extordinarily challenging, but fans of the series know to stick it out, but noobs might not think the same way. Devil May Cry 3 is more challenging that Ninja Gaiden, which Ninja Gaiden was considered to be as challenging as a game should get (have you played the hurricane packs for Ninja Gaiden, they are insannnnnnnnnnnely hard!!!).

In this note, Devil May Cry three is more rewarding than most games, even Ninja Gaiden, and Greg Kasavin made it a point to say that in his review, which I have to give amends for.

Most reviewers who gave Devil May Cry 3 a high score were already avid fans of the series, but the editor at Gamespot had to think of the game in an objective manner.

The third entry in the series is just not for noobs in my opinion.

Think of the Zelda franchise. These games are considered to be the best of all time and are incredibly well made, but are flexible enough for anyone to pick up.

Devil May Cry 3 is an incredibly well made game, but only certain crowds will be able to pick this game up.

You know what? I'm not going to bother making a long post stating my oppinion, but i'll just say that the score Gamespot gave to Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater was too low for one of the best games to be released for the Playstation 2 console.
Meh, i don't even bother visiting that site anymoreI don't see the point. I know the latest news before they post it and i can make up my own mind on games.

Yes, I can confirm myself that DMC 3 is a lot harder than Ninja Gaiden. It's also a much better game in my oppion because it evolves the Action Genre instead of just having everything from every other action game out (ninja gaiden did just that in my oppinion).

I was upset over the Metal Gear Solid 3 score too, that was ridiculous for them to say the gameplay was "aged". I do believe that the person who reviewed that one let his personally ability to play the game interfere with it too.

Funny story, I went into a local EB and was talking to the guy about DMC 3 and then we got to how Gamespot marked it down for it's dificulty. I told him I came to the conclusion that they mark down every PS2 game needlessly and he said they mark down every Xbox game needlessly. However, neither of us could be right and they could just be marking UP every Gamecube game needlessy! :D

Yeah, Gamespots reviews do seem a bit odd at times, DMC3 - 8.6, MGS3 - 8.7 and GT4 - 8.9, talk about ripped off, then a game like Halo 2 recieves a 9.4, and Killzone, don't get me started.
Most of the time i agree with their reviews, but it's just some of the big name titles that strike me as odd.
DMC3 and MGS3, it's just crazy that they scored below 9.0.

Well they gave high recommendations for God of War at least.
