I've been thinking of getting a 12in. Powerbook G4 w/Superdrive for awhile now. I'd like to know if Microsoft Office for Mac OSX ships with the Powerbook package or is it purchased separately? Another thing I'd like to know is if I should wait a few months if a new Powerbook comes along or the current Powerbooks get an upgrade. The new Mac OS X Tiger really catches my attention. Advice would be greatly appreciated :)

I'm pretty sure the Powerbooks come with Office 2004 for Mac OS X. You should probably hold off until June or so, because I believe there is a new Apple Expo in a few months, and you never know what's going to be shown.

Thanks, I guess I will be waiting till June then. I have another question. How does the educational discount work?

If you're enrolled in college, go here: http://www.apple.com/education/hed/students/discounts.html ... and click on their Apple Online Store for Education and find the school you're affiliated with, either it be a community college or a university. After you do that, everything that is an Apple product will have anywhere from a small to a large discount. They have special offers for students. For a while they had a free iPod with the purchase of any Powerbook, but I don't know if that deal is still going on.
The Education Store doesn't require anything special, other than you have to be going to school.

specialpro, you bought a PowerMac G5 recently? How is performance? A Powerbook G4 would be my first Mac. I have used Macs before but never owned one. The Macs at school are seriously neglected and in need of repair. So other than that I have no personal experience with Mac OS X. I've been using PCs for years now so I guess it should be straightfoward. I'm getting real tired of Windows and its time for a change :)

Performance is generally fine, I have no complaints. But when my Dad uses Adobe Photoshop CS saving certain files can be painfully slow, but I believe that this is because we only have 512mb of RAM at the moment. Hopefully you'll be as amazed as I was when I first started using a Mac, the difference is brilliant.
