It will be behind closed doors and probably only in video form.
The CELL itself may be present and on display though.

PS3 specs, I suspect will be given, perhaps not all, particularly GPU details, how much ram etc. We might get to see a prototype of PS3 but in terms of full design which includes the final circuit layout, outer casing etc. I doubt we will see at E3 but perhaps at the Tokyo Game Show.

Everything will be back with a much higher level of anticiipation for TGS.
CELL will almost certainly be on display because the system itself has been shown off by both IBM and Toshiba - Sony are the only part of the group to have not shown it.

I think it will be be there
the things that can not fire back at them will be shown. So yes, I expect Cell there. The reason why Sony didn’t reveal the cell till now is because it will be associated with PS3. I don’t know if E3’s Cell will also be a general Cell or the PS3 version. My guess is the first.
of course there will be footage. I do not know if there will be playable version due to being cautious in reveling anything on DS3. is there are playable demos, they may use DS2 for controls.
I expect nothing to be shown about the look of the system or any specific performance numbers for the fact that X2 has 6 month till launch and they can change some specs by that time.
TGS will have new info revealed as well as extending the ones that will be announced at E3.
I expect Sony to hold a grand conference for PS3 just before the launch. Sony doesn’t need to wait for these conferences. They make their own!

6 days to E3!!
My vote is no, maybe some demos of what it can do and general info bout the general cell, But the actual design of the console, idsay no, cause it would be a smart move by Soný to see the publics
reaction to 360 (which we expect a full show of ) so then they can see what the public likes dislikes about it and start modufying their PS3

As I said in the other thread, if it is shown, it will be behind closed doors to protect any advanatge they have over the competition.

i believe sony isnt going to show FINAL design or specs due to the hype machine being rolled out at ~ the unveiling of the xbox.
i also believe sony isnt the one with the most to loose if they unveil the design but Nintendo with their so called 'revolution'
lastly even if the PS3 is unveiled it will probably be behind closed doors so us (the general public) wont get to see it!
so then...who from this site is invited to the sony conference?
Of course Sony will show the design of the PS3. But it's a prototype because there are still problems with the fromat for the games.

hmm...
Apparently, there were plans for the company to show off some element of the next-gen device to press in March. I seem to remember that story. But I also remember Sony saying they would wait for E3. Well, being that the month of March is just about kaput, the rumors were flying that the big day would be tomorrow. But Sony squashed the speculation and reaffirmed E3’s importance.

I will be a little bit disapointed if the ps3 is no where to be seen. On the e3 teaser u hear:
'This time, the future will be revealed' (with 3 consoles standing next to each other)
If sony doesnt show there console then i really dont see the future being revealed.
Also, if Microsoft and Nintendo are showing then thats more a sign to me like:
'We arent as far as we expected to be''

The future would imply that either all 3, or at least the top two will be around.
A dominant console and a new console, with the approach to take over the market - perhaps a fail-safe plan if Windows falls over with the rise in Open Source software?

I think that Sony will show the console, but definitely not in playable form.
They will have it behind a case, and will show videos of respective tech demos running on the hardware, or have a real-time (non-playable) demonstration of a tech-demo running on the PS3.
They will most likely show the cell taking part in movie CG production also.
They will also finally reveal their online plans too, and maybe even have a demo of their goal like Microsoft had at GDC.
I seriously do not think that Sony will let Micosoft take all the limelight with only them being able to show off their console.

I would just expect another tech demo of the cell but from sony and a list of possible games and features. They don't seem to be intent on letting much out.

I hope Sony will surprise us with a playable PlayStation 3 and Gran Turismo 5 playing on it :P. I have a feeling that Gran Turismo 5 will be very close to photorealistic cars :D. Time goes slow this week

Time IS GOING SLOWLY!,
anyways, isnt TGS in JAPAN? that would be the perfect place to fully unveil the console itself because it would apeal to the mass market of Japan (where it would get released first). Nontheless sony WILL NOT let MS just take all the limelight, and after reading several articles why would Sony just move their conference before MS if they only wanted to show PS2 + PSP?

Amen to that Duga!
soo.....bored!
Anyway. A viewable version of GT5 wouldn't be surprising, since it's supposed to be a launch title isn't it?
Also, I really don't think there will be playable version around. Why? build up suspense :D
You have the next version of the leading console in the market and you can't play it. Must be something either really bad or really good.

The legendary iceman agrees!
(what makes it more boring is the xbox fanboys telling me about their commercial  )
anyways, yeah ive read that GT5 will show a teaser along with MGS4 (the sources are somewhere on this site)
MGS4's new director also stated that they will show the trailer they have made, but they arent showing it along with sony's PS3 conference, (i suspect the same with polyphony and GT5?)
What have you all got with your techdemos?
Some games are confirmed to be shown not as a techdemo they will be shown as real PS3 graphics. The japanese devolopers still have PS3 devolopment kits.

I didn't vote because I think that if they do actually show it (which I believe is likely to some extent) they will probably show "demo" hardware.
They did this in the early PS2 days when Phill Harrison was druming up hype. The thing they showed at some conferences and keynotes was actually a large wooden cabinet with wheels that contained several processor boards hooked together in a crude "cluster" style setup.
Obviously this didn't reflect the finished hardware in either capabilities or form and function, but in effect they did "show off the PS2." (Or atleast something like a PS2.)
I can see them doing something like this for E3, I hardly think they will be in any shape to do much else, but I do think they will show "something." Frankly they might not be able to afford not to with so much X-Box 360 hype right now.

It will be shown, there's no doubt about that. It has to be. That doesn't mean that a final hardware, I.E. PCB (Printed Circuit Board) and casing will be shown or even that final PCB will be shown, but it does mean that something atleast representing the PS3 hardware will be shown.
Later
