Now that is what I was expecting from Xbox 360. 8)

That better be ingame and not video playing before the actual game.

After seeing Perfect Dark Zero screenshots tonight.....my expectations have been lowered...I honestly believe those screens are NOT for the XBox.

Granturismo 4

it's not like this game leap frogs GT4 by a lot. this game seems to only have a better lighting system. texture wise there on the same level of detail and resolution. i'm very disappointed with xbox 2 so far.

i was about to say not much better than GT4  and gt4 is in 1080i and surround sound...

The game is gorgeuse. Its a large amount better than GT4. If you don't think this is impressive your just being picky and might as well not get a next-gen system. Its about as good as i'd expect from (in terms of graphics) this generation to the next in a Test Drive game. This is test drive...just imagine GT5. And remember the graphical improvment wont be as big from (x-box to x-box 360/ PS2 to PS3) as it was from PS1 to PS2. I'm tired of people complaining. What do you want perfection? *Sorry for the rant but I had to vent for a minute.*

yes, i do want perfection sometime in the future but right now i wanted something more impressive. for being the xbox 360 unveiling they should had consider showing games that do blow us away graphically, to give a great impression of the console. i'm pretty dissapointed with the graphics because a geforce fx card (and not necesary the latest one) with a P4 processor can handle everything shown on that so called unveiling. anyways ps3 should show more than that. if it's true metal gear 4 will be shown then get ready to get blown away. if kojima made 5k poly models look better than even joanna dark's model on xbox 360, then imagine what he can do with a couple more thousand (100,000).
also this game doesn't blow granturismo 4 away. it sure is an improvement, but nothing noticeable to an extreme. it's like sony said xbox 1.5 and not xbox 2. it's not that i expected perfection but a leap jump in the same ratio as to say from ps1 to ps2 and i'm not seeing that jump.

Far from it. But anyway when you compare the screens it makes GT4 look bland in comparison (not ugly but the textures look kinda dull). This is what I would expect a next-gen test drive to look like (why are we comparing it to GT4 anyway?). Compare it to the most recent Test Drive on PS2.

100,000k for snake was just a suggestion and not a fact. the most i expect is from 10k being the least - 50k being the most polys on characters at least on xbox 360. i know what you mean julps31 in a ratio situation test drive looks like a ps1 game on ps2 and this new test drive looks like a ps2 game on ps3 and comparing it to a AAA title like GT4 is completely ridiculous because of the quality. You also don't understand my point. To be xbox 360 and having engines out there like unreal 3 engine available to developers they should have done better. i don't know if it's just me but the leap jump isn't being shown in that particular game.
try to picture those screens of granturismo 4 with better lighting. believe me ligthing makes a whole lot of difference. if you have crappy textures or models but.you have the right lighting, it can help hide those imperfections. really take that away and you have GT4 from this generation. i also saw video running of project gotham 3 on that MTV show and it doesn't look any better than this which is a real shame.

For $300 yes I expect a huge leap. Some people hear sit a say stupid comments like "dont expect a huge leap in tech". Why not, we did with the PS1 -> to PS2. Why not now. When a Sony rep says to the media the the next-gen Xbox is Xbox 1.5 and then couple that with you guys saying the technology won't be that big of a jump its appreant that Sony could easily be right. Xbox 1.5 is possible.
People forget that the R&D of the cell has lasted longer than the length of the actually lifespan of the Xbox.
So we can expect Sony to start the real next-gen wars. I just that guy was right.

As you continue to go up the technological ladder, advancement will be more costly and will also be slower. It's a logical fact and I'm not surprised the leap from Xbox to Xbox 360 looks like those screens (Which, might I add, isn't that bad), considering how they're not even using premier technology inside that box.
Yes, the R&D for the CELL was extensive, but that's also because it's going EVERYWHERE, not just the PS3 specifically.
People, I will say one thing now:
DO NOT EXPECT TOO MUCH. Heck, I'd even hestitate to expect Dynasty Warrior 4's pre-rendered CGI in real-time next-gen...
Don't blame me when you're disappointed during E3 .

Not surprising in the least bit to me. After the leap Gran Turismo gave
us, there was no doubts in my mind that next-gen consoles wouldn't be
doing photo realistic cars next. The car that EA used as an example for
next-gen consoles, well lets just say I believe that will be for the PS3 as
well as the models from 2 Days to Vegas. Feel free to disagree however you like.

The_One I have read your post and have totally respected you since the first one I read, but I have to disagree. See what you have to understand is a few games have made me fell like a 8 year old all over again.
1.Gears of War
2.Ghost Recon 3
3. NBA 2k6
4. Madden 2006
5. Condemned
Those 5 games (Gears of Wars made me change my undies ) look absolutly great. If games look like that at least and better on the PS3 I would be hella happy.

I'm just a pessimist in a bad mood right now :P. I say some stupid stuff sometimes... my previous post is probably a prime example of that .
I'm sure PS3 will do better, but as of now, Xbox 360 isn't looking too great....
side note: I really should get to sleep... I'm surprised people are still on at this time, wow.

GT4 with better lighting? Please lighting is an important part of realism and the textures (even the ground textures) look like a big improvment over any racing game on PS2, X-box, or gamecube.

this was a very very rushed presentation... it should be half a year from now with everything tweaked!

julps31 i'm not trying to find everything bad in this game. i'm just stating what i see and everytime i see a GT4 screen and compare it to this i really don't see what is next gen about it. lets put the GT4 comparison aside a pentium 4 with a Gforce fx no necesarily the latest one can basically handle those graphics. so that clearly states that is not next gen material. it sure improves over GT4 but is not something to wow me. the cars in 2 days to vegas impressed me more.
the ground textures look like project gotham racing 2 and like i said an improved lighting system. you also make it seem as if this game leaves Gt4 in the dust in terms of graphics. i don't see the bump mapping or normal mapping in this game. maybe the cars have them but surely not the worlds from what i see. also were is the the per pixel lighting. this is certainly not a big improvement plain and simple and alot of people seem to agree with me.

But I can tell you that I can't wait till GT5 and I know it'll look way better than this game lol. I'm expecting photo-realism. Especially now that the focus is on the "human element". Can't wait to see it. But this is certainly not aa bad game...(if you ask me) to show off what first generation next-gen racing games will look like.
