the 500 million polygons, is that with all effects applied or just raw polygon performance?.

CPU game math
9 billion dot product operations per second.
what the hell does that mean and since when has this term been used to determine math performance.

i'm telling you Microsoft comes up with things just to make their spec sheet look pretty without actually showing numbers that everyone can understand.

They also say overall FLOP performance is 1 teraflop which i assume that it's the combined flops of the CPU and GPU. but not everyone knows this and they might actually believe that it outperformes the cell.

why do you need 3 usb 2.0 ports i thought is was enough with 2. weren't they using memory stick media format for memory cards or flash memory cards.

all that official info microsoft unveiled can be miss leading.

Is it strange that some details are missing from the specs.; like what features will the ATI chip have, the 500 million trias is that the max or with
shaders turn on, etc.....

it is obviously with no shaders or whatevers on. why would they put up specs with shaders or other effects? there is no standard for those. it is just like when they call it 56k modem. it is possible, but not practical.

They are water cooled.

This system sounds really impressive, although I have to admit that 500 million trianles fell below the previous rumors if that does infact mean everything is off.

The online capabilities are sounding really great. But it still sounds like they'll be charging you for it, which was avoided by claiming features out of the box.

IMO, the purchase doesn't sound bad at all....yet.

EDIT:

I notice they didn't go with Bly Ray or HD-DVD. Does this mean they'll be launching the console earlier than expected?

Here's an article by AnandTech that looks into it's specs somewhat.

Arstechnica will be working on a more comprehensive article soon, look forward to seeing what Hannibal has to say on the supposed 1Tflop performance from the 360.

they mostlikely will launch earlier than what everyone expected. they're definetely at a disadvantage though. i think microsoft knows their console isn't that revolutionary so they knew they had to launch first in order to compete. it's impossible for them to win against ps3 if it's 3 times more powerfull. if they would have simultaneously launch it would have been catastrophic for them. after all their console was the strongest this generation and loosing that title is like loosing half of their support. like sony said they will be releasing xbox 1.5 and not 2. it's obvious that sony had it's motives to actually attack the xbox 360 in this fashion. i've really never seen sony go out there and start flaming or bashing other companies product like Gamecube or xbox without a motive or actuall proof.

That MTV unveiling just goes to show you how right they were. also i think that they wanted to maintain the cost pretty low and since they included the hard drive as well and Hd DVD and blue ray will mostlikely start manufacturing by the end of this year it would be impossible for Blue ray or HDDVD to meet their deadline. i also believe their design isn't motivative or orginal at all it looks like a PC more than ever. The vertical position was completely inspired by the ps2's design and that's a given i believe and the white color was inspired by the ipod. The detachable HDD was the only innovative new thing i saw in that design. also i though they said that xbox 360 was going to fall under the size between the Original ps2 and Pstwo. guess they lied about that, because it's still bigger than even the regular ps2.
