xbox 360, sony 720, what is turning around?

both these systems are talking about the ability to turn around once or twice, well what does turning around mean

It's called 360 because if the green circle around the power button... oh and im sorry for posting that thing on Playstation 720.. the rumor should end here.

It wasn't really even a rumor to begin, it was just GameRevolution.com trying to be silly and writing the "Post Pre-E3 Coverage". They just came up with little gags that were actually quite clever. The other ones were a Grand Theft Auto-like Mario game, and... umm.. I forget the other. But none of them are true.

And a 360 degree turn is a full rotation, while a 720 degree turn is two rotations. Since Microsoft's new little symbol is a circle, it makes sense for them to call their console the XBox 360, even though it sounds stupid as hell.

I think X-Box 360 is a fine name myself, think about it Sony kind of forced their hand in calling it that cause they obviously couldn't call it X-Box 2 for marketing reasons, and having a higher number tagged onto the end helps.

Why has everyone taken the 720 comment as some sort name leak for Sony's new console. The quote, if authentic at all, seems like an off the cuff remark. Sony called the 360 XBox 1.5, not because that's its name, but because they want to berate the 360. Same with refering to their own console as the 720, it was just another console-name based piss take by a Sony rep.
