Do you think PS3 will look like a Blu-ray recorder?

I have a feeling that the new PS3 will have many similarities to a Blu-ray recorder.... here is a link to them and tell me if PS3 does happen to look like (or close to) one of these recorders which one do you like the most?I know they are bulky and large but pick the one that has the best design and hotness you would want to see on the PS3.

What do those have in common beside splayign games? They 'looked' like consoles/ Some much more than others but I don't want a replica of the 5 components already sitting on my shelves. I don't want a PSX. I want a console.

EDIT: It looks quite heavy and where do you put the discs anyway?

It may take distinct ideas from them, but overall it will be a lot sleaker than BR-Recorders.

I wouldn't want it to look like that either. Plus that thing is gargantuan, and I highly doubt Sony would go that route.

Sony normally comes up with strange yet unit designs. A perfect example
is the PS2. When standing on its vertical side, it looks like a stack of
unleveled books setting beside one another. So, to tell you the truth, I
don't know how the PS3 is going to look, but I'm quite sure it won't look
like the rest of the consoles.

I'd love them to add a headphone jack on the console, a small feature i know but i'd use it a fair bit.

It will definately not look like a blueray recorder, at least not the size! why? well for one it doesnt have a hard drive, second they got a lot of other uh stuff packed in them huge blue ray recorder boxes. Hence, blue ray recorder!

Sony's new disc drive (the new combination of discs) will most likely be the size of any dvd/cd player. Even if their machine can record it wont make much of a difference.. I dont really know whats in their blue ray recorders, but it is something huge. If I'm not wrong the first dvd recorders with HD were pretty huge. Usually disc recorders dedicated to recording are usually huge at first... but we'll see, I bet it will be a normal size. what size is normal? Normal to me is like the ps2, gamecube or a normal dvd player. Smile

Oh yeah one other thing, compare the dvd player you got at your house (if you got one that is) to your computers dvd player. Most likely your dvd player at your tv is the larger dvd player.

I think they might make use of external heatsinks... I could imagine it looking like one of those bluray players crossed with the psp.

If you consider the design jump from the original crappy (imho) Xbox to the swisher 360 it's not inconceivable that the PS3 would have that domestic appliance look to it.
After all, with the very real element that the console market is to expand and "grow up" (if that's the right expression) with all the Media Centre blah blah blah-ing I don't think it'd be too bad a move to make a console look a little similar/complimentary to all the other boxes I have under my TV.
Either way I haven't seen a badly designed Sony product in a while. Just have a look at their recent portable music players: very nice.

I can't wait to see the Ps3 prototype.

Not sure why, but after someone asking whether it'd be a bunch of circuit boards and cables hidden within a cardboard box...I'm expecting to see something like thatr...but then it bursts into flames...dunno why....

Also, it's either down to the amount of sweet drinks I'm having today or that I'm so excited - I've been toilet about 20 times today :roll:

It wouldn't surprise me to see the prototype looking like a Blu-ray recorder though ;)
