Hi

I was just wondering if you guys can help me out. I'm looking into using Linux as my operating system instead of Windows and I wanted to know which distribution is the best one to use and which programs I should get for it.

I want to be able to mainly rip/burn/listen to mp3s, watch video, word process and make spreadsheets and other general stuff. I use Firefox and Azureus at the moment to browse the internet and download so is there a version for Linux?

Sorry if this post is nonsensical but I'm in a bit of a hurry. Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.

SuSE might be an option for you.

Linux will run OpenOffice which, doesn't have a publisher equivalent, but will opne Microsoft Office documents.

There are Mozilla applications that run on Linux so you can still browse the internet and emaisl.

VNC works, samba connects Linux to Windows shared folders.

I have no idea about disk writing though. I assume it does. It does everything Windows can and more.

It can count too ;)

Suse is very good, and user friendly(YaST2)....

Firefox definately exists for linux, and I believe Azureus does as well.
If not, there are many other bittorrents available.

Debian Linux is also a good veriosn of linux(app-get is amazing)
