Also consider that the demos shown are not "actual in-game footage " .
they are in real time but they are simply technical demos .

All of you guys are having fun watching all those wicked E3 videos while I'm stuck with stills! No fair!

Just so that you know: I can't watch the vids 'cause my comp is too slow to play them (It's a AMD K-6 266Mhz :().

Gotta wait 'till tomorrow... Then I can use my 3Ghz Xeon workstation at my school's comp lab to watch those vids at the highest resolution... hehe :D.

My home comp is a k6 333mhz with 128mb of RAM. But right now i'm not using it cause it wouldn't cooperate with me. We should be looking at a new one soon.

And back to your regularly scheduled program...

Too bad you guys cant see the movies :( Their awesome. The best one in my opinion is the Killzone 2 video since its alot longer than the others. It has some really good particle effects.

OMG! Killzone in the live-stream was the most gorgeous looking game I have ever seen, my jaw litrally dropped to the floor. Like someone else mentioned, I also prefer Killzone engine better than the plastic looking Unreal engine.

That and the dirt racing one.... forgot the name. Something like Motor Score or something. Those 2 games are worth buying the PS3 for alone!

I just hope to god that Square-Enix DO actually create a FF7 remake. I know the guy said they wont but............ *WHAH!!* I nearly cried when I saw the tech demo of it running. I WANT IT!! They continue to milk the FF7 name with a load of spin-offs, but wont give the fans what we want (lets hope hes lying).

That whole conference sent my next-gen console need into pure ultra high-drive... I dont think I'll survive till next Spring

hey I watched the entire conference... I think its all real in game.. because they showed us things that were, and a boxing match which was real and looked basically as good as tekken 6.. and I know the game that looked like world war 2 with aliens in it was in real time rendering. I just know it so that means kill zone 2 was too.. I bet it is, I swear to god! watch the conference and you wont be saying "uh pre-rendered, too good to be true". :)

ps3 blows my mind just like ps2 did once! even more????

Indeed, the PS3 just blew me away, perhaps even more so than the PS2 !

Killzone 2 was actualy game play footage. No it wasn't, it was a tech demo. Real-time, yes. In-game, no.

Those games look really, really good. Actual gameplay looking this realistic would be unbelievable.

What I find really amazing is the fact that (even though these are tech-demos) this graphics is real-time. The fact that this is really just showing off the GPU, these are going to be nothing short of amazing to play. The AI and Physics that the Cell is capable of should be nothing short of frightning.

I can't wait!

Am i right in saying that the quality of AI a game has has very little to do with the processor? It still takes a brilliant designer to come up with brilliant AI, the machine doesn't just invent it. Or is running AI more processor intensive than i have been lead to believe?

Yes and No... It does take a brilliant designer to come up with a revolutionary AI concept. Like what happened between Quake 2 and Unreal (mainly AI paths). The main problem with AI in games is that generally it's very difficult to balance your AI's (this is what I've found anyway).

The more processing power you have, the better your AI's can be, because they can spend more time "thinking", and deciding what to do next. The main reason I feel that Cell is perfect for massive AI, is the parallel processing capability of it, this means more bots doing more intelligent things (ie: NPS's in RPG's actually doing something instead of walking around on a loop, or semi-randomly).

Yes Killzone was an actual Real time footae , you can see a king off glitch or clipping in the first seconds of the video .
Also the game is due to be released in Spring .
and it is just a technical demo which presents what the future game will be able to achieve .
Also Killing Day , Insomniac Fps , fith phantom from sega and Unreal tournament 2007 demos were in real time ..
