Are those screen prerendered or real-time? Probably pre-rendered...you can see more on Gamespot.

nice nice...well I'm not so dedicated to wait for a console on a forum for 2 yrs +, but I will still be buying that bad boy as soon as it comes out here in B.C.

I think The Getaway real-time demo was the most impressive. Couldn't believe my eyes when he started moving the camera around.

The leaf demo was cool as well. The part where he said the hundreds of thousands of leafs could each have their own audio signals was just insane.

The bathtub demo was just funny. =)

eh.........wow

Im still not believing it all until I see it actually being played as a game, the same goes for Killzone, Tekken etc. Its too good to be true.

Have you got a link to this demos?

the getaway over kills project gotham racing by 10 folds.

i mean getaway an open end city full of life, people, movement and is larger in scale than PGR3 world (most likely) has better graphics.

I personally think that Project Gotham looks better, in that particular image anyway.

specialpro: yeah, you're right. But that's probably cos PGR3's bread and butter is cars - that's what catches the eye in the PGR3 image I think. Well, it would be seeing as its a racing game. Anyway, The Getaway obviously models much more than motor vehicles! Appearances can be deceptive. For example, I think the "round" building behind the car in rev>thanu's post is very angular. Hmm.

The PG shot looks slicker, probably cause it's nearer completion, but there is alot more in the Getaway in terms of geometry. The building windows in PG are just textures by the looks of it.

By the way... in an interview with Masayuki Chatani (SCEI CTO) http://www.beyond3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=23162, he states that the Getaway demo was running purely on the CELL, with the image created by CELL directly output to the frame buffer... THAT'S CRAZY!!!

That's Piccadilly Circus :) Good that I identified it right away :P means ps3 is pure ownage.

So RSX isn't used at all in it?

I knew CELL had a lot of power - but to be able to produce stuff like that alone - if I understood correctly - is just phenomenal - makes you wonder why RSX would even exist...

Q. In regard to PS3, because there are small number of devkits are supplied, I hear 2 kinds of opinions, some expect it'd be hard to extract performance and others are surprised as they can extract performance very easily in an actual development. How is it in the real development scene?

A. To be honest, since it has so much margin in performance, we've heard no such feedback that it's difficult to develop on it. It's different from single-core programming naturally, but it doesn't add to man hours required for game development that much. I repeat it but entertainment programmers have tremendous ability.

For example we showed the demo that renders London City, it's not rendered in the GPU but the CELL does lighting and texture processing then outputs it to the frame buffer. Even without GPU, only CELL can create good enough 3D graphics.WOW... Maybe Killzone is real. 8)

you know something i realize? I cant find polygons on this London Demo.
Only some characters show more "square" bends but not ridiculous showing Polygons. except one guy or two.
I cant see poly's on anything else. at all.. everything is round. i dont get it. even buildings have zero polys showing, everything is round!

The same happens in KILLZONE, i only found about 2 scenes with polygons in killzone, the exploded wheel and the "nazi" Helmet falling down. Everything else was round or with smooth Bends.

perhaps this is one big advantage of Cell...
1+1 =2
London Demo is Cell only, no polygons showing
So.. London demo + CEll = no polys = killzone is maybe do-able in real-time.

well see.
