looking at the system, i'm wondering some things:
-where's the ports for the old controllers/memory cards?
-where's the ports for the new memory cards?...
-where does the HDD plug in?
and, i've never used a slot-loading disc thing. wouldn't you get fingerprints on the edges of the discs taking 'em out?
also, one annoying thing about wireless controllers: during the winter i'll play with a blanket over me, which i'm sure would block the signals. tho sometimes my tv controller works under a blanket.
plus, they'll hafta come up with a "PS3" logo. they need a short logo to use everywhere, like ads, on game discs, etc. i'm sure they'll come up with one tho.

Slot disks are used in car stereos  Plus they have an extra thick substance on the disk to not allow it to scratch.
The controllers use BlueTooth which means you could play under your couch  and not lose signal.
They have a symbol...same as PS2 only w/ a 3.

hmm, what about the old controller ports? maybe instead you have to buy adapters and use USB? but even still, i see no memory card slots. or for that matter, USB ports up front, which is claimed.

Also, as I stated in another thread, the PS3 has a door bay that opens up in the front which hides the ports for the memory cards and controllers. :)

There's a panel on the front of the PS3 that flips up and reveals the memory card slots. Basically, what Mordecaii said.

that was my suspicion all along but wondered why there were no pics of it... is there a bigger pic tho? i can't tell what that is. the far-left looks like mem card, then controller, but the far-right i have no idea. plus, shouldn't there be two of each?

I can't tell either. Just take it and put it in paint and magnify it.
Edit:Nope doesn't work... Can't see the words.

The controller hooks up through the USB so none of those are for the controller.
They are all most likely different flash card types. Did you see the list of all the types of media it supports?

well, but you can probably use the old ps2/1 controllers.

I dunno, they probably don't want to have to deal with all of those ports...I mean they already have a buttload just for saving formats and then the ports in the back!!!

they may have a bluetooth multi-tap peripheral this time around. 8)
Plug all your wired controllers into it.

yeah, it looks like you're gonna need an adapter to use your old controllers, gnznroses.
Think of the bright side, the usb ports are much more versitile than the previous controllers ports and if the ps3 comes with common drivers and stuff, you won't have to plug crap into the back if you want to use extra stuff (assuming you aren't using all 4 controller slots at the time)

If the Ps3 doesn't have any contoller ports for the Dual Shock controllers then I'm sure they will utilize an adapter. My friends and I purchased the below, from LikSang about a year ago, and it works like a charm (only paid about $4 for it too!)... I feel Sony will come out with something like this.

I bet PS3 will include 1 or 2 adapters, too. You know, just in case you have a friend who isnt with it and only has PS2 or 1 with Dualshock1/2. It'll probably look like those exyensions for PlayStation controllers but one end will be a USB connecter. hmm

There are probably two of each slot. If you look closely each slot looks like its double height.
They probably put the 2 slots really close together.
The HDD placement is strange but if you look at a picture of the bottom of the console, you see the slot
I'm still looking for a pic - i dont remember where i saw it
