Funny how MS chose the name "360"

The same reason's why corporations markdown 1 cent off $100.00 and sell a product for $99.99 so that consumers actually believe they're getting a better deal, I believe Microsoft chose the name 360 so that narrowminded consumers would believe that it is on the same level as PS3, they needed to have the number "3" in there somewhere to "compete" with Sony in the subconciousness of the parents of 8yr olds who don't know any better when their kid asks for a new gaming system, they would probably go for PS"3" instead of Xbox"2" and MS would risk losing an easy sale. Of course we all know the new Xbox 360 is MS's 2nd system and PS3 is Sony's 3rd, but my sister-in-law with a 10yr old boy doesn't. Microsoft's marketing dept wouldn't want to risk losing any dumb consumers who believe that since PS3 is a higher number than Xbox 2, that the PS3 must be the more advanced system. I personally think "360" is a terrible name. They should have stuck with Xenon. Many believe that the PS3 is the more advanced system anyway so it's a moot point, of course all will be proven by the games themselves. Thoughts?

That is the exact reason... And even Microsoft themselves have stated this many times. Can you please post this kind of thing in the right section next time? The "Everything Else" section looks like a good choice :roll:.

The one cent under $100 prices is psychological.

You can get companies to advertise a product and say it's under $100.

Then, when people go in - most of them don't even look and they get to counter and find out it's only $99.99 and then they feel they have to buy it now.
