i am getting worried about the psp now... sony need to get their @$$3$ off their money making chairs and think! i think sony were relying more on what nintendo did with the GBA, port games and sell at full price again. SONY NO!!!! i have need for speed underground and tony hawks so far and there are absolutely no good games (IMO) other than these. i know everyone is going to say but what about GTA?? ?? ?? personally i think the psp will need a lot more to revive it now... GTA or no GTA, GT4 or no GT4 i dont think it will make any difference. i dont want to sit here regrettin buyin the greatest handheld ever because of a lack of titles...

It's just going to take time in my opinion. The PSP has faced a torrent of problems and this software drought really isn't helping matters for Sony, but I'll retain my faith in them and pray that some really good software is released soon.

You mentioned GTA, but when is that released? Was it September? That's an awfully long wait from now, so I hope some good games are released in the time being! :?

exactly my point. it's fine for the uk market who dont have a psp but for people like me we're buggered. they have to wait for everything but we have to wait with a very expensive ornament until september. i dont know of any games due out before then...

I'm really not that sure about the release dates to the majority of those games, I'm sure you could find out if you did a quick Google. I'm guessing a lot of the games on this list will eventually see the light of day on the PSP, but God knows when. :)

That's a list of announced games, not just 2005 releases.

They need to do a few things to get back in the game.

1. Better battery and unlock the clock.

2. Get it out in Europe to a good launch.

3. Fix the audio/video system. The average person is confused as hell trying to get their PSP to do many of the things Sony touts it can do. They need to simplify the experience (They could learn this by watching and listening to Nintendo). Not every gamer is tech savvy.

4. Go all out online. They did for South Korea so why no where else?

I've never had a problem with the battery, in fact I thought the whole battery issue died down once everyone realised that it really wasn't as bad as some people were making it out to be.

I might add that I am quite surprised how much a farce this has become for Sony. Basically everything that could go wrong has went wrong and doesn't look to be getting any better anytime soon in my opinion.

The battery is fine as it is but not once the clock is unlocked.

The worry I have with the PSP...is the game manufacturers need to SORT OUT LOADING TIMES....

a lot of the games have tremendous long load times where as some hardly at all, so it can be done...

Having read the lastest reviews on IGN and the like about Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition....they state that the loading times are terrible...upto 70 seconds...

The PSP has only been out for over 6 months, its yet to really get in gear. I've never bought a console in which I didn't have a boring first year from lack of games. It'll get better later.

If thats the case why not wait a year before you buy them?

Strangley enough I trusty sony to sort out most of the major issuses but my concernt lies with the price of memory sticks and how not being able to afford the larger storage will limit what i can do. I think this will become more apparent when more games start having downloadable updates.

I think Sony should start to release the Standard Pack in the U.S. now. I'd rather pay $180 for the PSP, battery, and AC adaptor because that's all I need. I have really good pair of headphones and my friends have some spare PSP cases. I really hope Sony starts to sell the Standard Pack somethime soon.

I was really ready to buy psp as soon as it hits Europe, but after so much delays and almost one year after Japan release I don’t think I will get one. At least until standard pack comes at shops. First and main reason is-why should I pay 250 euros (and that is much more than 250$) for console that is so late in Europe? I will rather add 50 euros more and buy xbox360 or wait for ps3. Also MS duo’s are in Europe much more expensive so that is another expense. And all that for console that looks like is abandoned by Sony because they are more focused on ps3.

Both the PlayStation and the PS2 were $300 when first released, so it's not that bad in comparison.

the psp has impressed pretty much anyone with its capabilities at the moment, my mates were stunned by t.hawks, just imagine the 333mhz capabilities! i hope that sony can give us something they promised, an awesome, console quality gaming experience with no worries about battery and loading times!

Well after reading that piece on the main page about gta lcs they were saying its the seek times that are chronic no the actualy load times. I know its not rock solid but if that is true it means just the layout of the disc can drematicaly change load times. so thats one issue out of the window. All i want is for memory sticks to be cheaper.

im not too sure but i think that this was also a problem with early ps2 games.

I really haven't been researching on the PSP since I lost interest in handhelds right after the monochrome gameboy but Sony's little beast does seem quite interest.

It appears that there are two processor cores, both clocked at 333Mhz, one is for the general CPU while the other is the 'Virtual Media Engine'. Does this mean that one can pause a movie and start up a game? Also could this second processor be used by game developers? By just doing a little google, I learned that the main CPU core has 32mb of eDRAM and the Virtual Media engine has 4mb of eDRAM. Even though using eDRAM can take alot of transistor count, a portable unit really does need some fast memory. However, should the two CPUs be used, we could end up be seeing some very impressive games.

The GPU seems quite interesting as well with its dual core configuration. Sadly the PSP does not have a programmable GPU. Personally it seems like both of the GPU cores are not being tapped and developers are seeing the PSP as a mini-PS2. However with both having 2mb of eDRAM, more features (NURBs, Anti-aliasing, etc) there does seem to be huge potential.

I really cannot say about the Virtual Mobile Engine but WOAH! 7.1 Channel along with 5 billion operations/sec, it really does kill any portable unit in this department. I just hope those Dolby Digital Surround Sound headsets can be used on the NE

With those three components (General Processing, Graphics, and Sound power), the PSP can really end up having some really beautiful games. The graphics could even end up comparing to those on the Gamecube. I use it as an example since it uses a low capacity medium.

its not the price of the games that i get frustrated about, its the fact that ninty can go and produce a bucketload of great ideas and sony dont even bother. i mean look at how creative luigi's mansion is, and mario sunshine, and the touch screen on a handheld. who knows what the revolution is going to be like...

the thing thats stoping me from geting a PSP IS LACK OF GAMES.
THERE IS MORE MOIVES COMEING OUT THEN GAMES,

Dude theres plenty of games coming out, starting September. They already announced an expected 100 more games to be released by March 2006. I am already overwhelmed by the amount of games that I just don't know which ones to choose. There is more movies coming out than games because its easier to port a movie than to make a game. Plus theres a whole library of movies that can be adopted to UMD. So might as well port the movies to get a quick buck for the studio.

Plus theres a whole library of movies that can be adopted to UMD. So might as well port the movies to get a quick buck for the studio.

Also keep in mind the fact that there are more studios out there to port the movies than studios to make games(and since Sony owns Columbia Pictures, that makes even more movies). The PSP iss off to a good road, it just has to pick off. I think I heard somewhere that SOCOM PSP and SOCOM 3 PS2 are gona have conectivity, just like MGA and MGS3. Keep in mind that a lot of Japanese and American game studios are still backing up Sony's machine, even though they are not unleashing the monster. I think Ridge Racers and MGA are the best games out there(graphic wise). RR looks exactly like a PS2 game, lots of good gfx but it wastes the battery alot due to its sharp gfx. The only thing bad with MGA is that its card based(but it still seems to be a hit, for Konami already announced MGA2). PSP is, and i put emphasis on IS, Sony's first handheld, and has yet to prove its possibilities, as compared to the NDS which probably has shown all it has to(aside from the Mic function...). I think Sony's revolution(ironic eh?) will come with the release of the Firmware 2.0 by allowing a lot of promised features surface on the console, and then continue with a TV adapter to directly watch movies without a hotspot. For those people who are worried about features and Memory Stick price, keep in mind the following. PSP is intended to integrate into PS3, not PS2, so as for now, PSP has no brother to defend him. Once PS3 comes out, we will see more PSP games and interactivity, as well(just like Kutaragi said) a possible drop in the 1 Gig Memory Sticks, facilitating most games.

As for announced titles, Late 2005/Early 2006 are gona be the best, just wait for all those great RPG's, FPS, and Action games by Japanese and American studios.
