I finished the book about 15 minutes ago, and I was quite satisfied. It's a bit sad, and the next book is going to be exciting as hell because she set up a lot of events to come.
and as a few people have said, please delete the n00bs post, or put spoiler tags or something in it.

Edit your post, and don't post things like that... People don't want spoilers...
isn't harry potter just the childrens version of Lord Of The Rings? i mean it had trolls, ents, wizards....the first film wasn't too entertaining either with the chess match....

Keep in mind the movies are far different from the books. If you read the LOTR and the Harry Potter books, the Harry Potter books are far better, yet the first two LOTR movies were better than the first two Harry Potter movies, due to the fact that the director was an idiot. Harry Potter in fact is a great saga, specialy from the second book when the reader is actualy more used to the characters and knows more about the terms in the books.

To say that Harry Potter is merely the children's version of The Lord of the Rings is an oversimplification, and probably an insult to the Potter series.
However, to say that the Potter series is "far better" or even better at all than the Lord of the Rings I believe is silly. While my opinion isn't necessarily worth more than anyone else's here, I believe the Potter series hasn't remotely touched The Lord of the Rings in terms of complexity and depth. However, both series are good.
I have in fact though yet to read the 5th, let alone the 6th Potter. ;)

Now that enough people are done the book, time for consparacy theories :D...
What if Harry is the final Horcrux, I mean it's perfectly set up for that. Dumbledore thought he was gonna finish the deal by putting the horcrux in something after killing harry... But what if Voldemort killed his parents, and put the Horcrux in Harry... And it wasn't the Avada Kevdara that Harry survived... It's just that tearing his soul in seven weakened Voldemort. I mean, tearing your soul once is supposed to be painful (according to Slughorn) Imagine seven times... Amd, I mean it makes perfect sense, how else do you explain Harry being able to talk to snakes and other things that make him similar to Voldemort?

Trust me, you don't see a tenth of how deep the rabbit hole goes until the end of the 5th book, and then it goes even deeper in the sixth...
I have more questions today than after reading the fourth one.

I want to see how she is going to finish the series. She left so many holes open. The next book would either have Harry finding horcruxes every chapter, or else its going to be about 2,000 pages long.
(Harry snd Ginny shouldn't have broken up)
goku2057
07-25-2005, 03:44 AM
Well, she normally uses things from past books that seem unimportant in the new books to link things together. I wouldn't be suprised if they already had a few of the horcruxes in their possesstion. They already found Slytherin's locket at Sirius' home.
Kevin

That prediction that Harry is a horcrux is quite interesting. I actually remember hearing when I was reading the first book in like the 6th grade that **** ANOTHER SPOILER IS COMING POSSIBLY ****
Harry is supposed to die in the 7th book. That would be a good reaason to kill him off
END SECOND SPOILER********
Vishus
07-27-2005, 03:59 AM
I think the Goblet of Fire and the locket in Grimauld Palace are horcruxes.
I don't think Harry will be a horcrux. Unless Voldemort accidentally used that spell on him the prophecy simply states that one of them has to die and Voldemort cherishes immortality. He doesn't want Harry to kill him so he wanted to kill him first, but I do see a possibility since after the after the failure of the Aveda Kedavra spell some of Voldemort's self passed onto Harry. If that were the case somhow I believe Harry will be ressurected due to the fact that one of them has to die while the other stays alive.

Pretty much like 10 different people told me what happened.
But anyways, I was disappointed in Rowling over this book. Things seem to be happening for the sake of happening rather then things going along as if that's the way it's supposed to go. And all that horse shit about like relationships when so many of them were baseless like *gay spoiler warning I guess here* Lavender and Rong, Ginny and Harry, Ginny and whoever the hell else, Hermione and Ron****
It was all just so gay and almost out of place to have that amount of that kind of content. And no I'm not a hater or anything. I love harry potter, just the latest one that came out was a disappointment. I've also read them all at least twice, some 5 times (the 1st one but I've had it since it came out)
RANKED IN THIS ORDER ARE I BELIEVE THE GREATEST BOOKS
THE 1st
THE THIRD
THE 5TH
TH4TH
THE 6TH
THE SECOND
the chamber of secretsn was teh worst book EVER EVER EVER

lol good job, My favorite is the third book, cause my fave charicter is introduced, (sirius) the fifth book is good execpt for the end, for the obvious reason. Its gonna suck when the 7th book is over, cause thats it, it will be rather anti climactic. and the movies, well lets face it, they suck!

If you are reading in this topic before finishing the book and you don't want spoilers don't read this topic. Besides discussing the contents what really can you say about it? Bah... this is a spoiler thread and I refuse to use the spoiler tag especially since you should have read my little disclaimer(for lack or better term). You're own fault if you're reading this forum.
I don't think Harry is a horcrux. At first I thought he might be, but then again there's too much evidence that suggest that Voldemort was trying to kill him (read Voldemorte's speech at the end of the 4th book to his Death Eaters and to Harry). He tries to kill him in Book 1 (at the end). He tries in Book 4 (Harry is a track star on a jacked up leg). He tries in Book 5 (Dumbledore threw a statue or something in the way just in time thankfully). Though I still wonder... there may be something I'm missing. I'll be ticked if he dies. I'll never read the books again. Harry's put up with too much crap and dealt with too much pain to not be able to live a happy life and get back with his woman. It's just like a horrible injustice. I'll fly over to J.K. Rowling's house and I'll huff and puff and blow it down if she pulls something like that, but at the same time though... Book 7 better be intense up the wazoo. (even if he is a horcrux... maybe there is a way to kill that piece of Voldemorte's soul and not kill Harry.
My favs, book 6 (jam packed with answers to many of my myriads of questions), book 2 (really sets you up to thinking about things), book 4 (action!), book 5 (action again although it was a close match to 4), book 3, and book 1.

Well, you're correct about one thing, if Harry dies you WON'T be reading anymore of the books, because there aren't going to be anymore after the 7th.
n00b.
Harry isn't a horcrux I mean come on why would valdemort want to destroy one of his own horcrux he would be destroying a part of his own soul. makes no sence.

Well, you're correct about one thing, if Harry dies you WON'T be reading anymore of the boks, because there aren't going to be anymore after teh 7th.
n00b.
I meant I won't be reading them again like I have about 100 times (no that's not a literal number).
On reguards to calling me a n00b...
http://www.shawn64.com/mochastorage/cgtn.html
I did not say anything to you prior to my post, much less something negative. Perchance it was a mistake I gave you the definition of n00b there so you can improve your vocabulary and realize the error of your ways. If you were joking, I did not find it amusing. If you were serious... well... you idiocy speaks for itself. Instead of trying to be a smart alek (prefer civilized terminology, but you get the idea) you could try and use some logic and common sense and understand that you just may be able to read the books more than once if you enjoy them.
Now in reguards to what I said given the above information. Obviously I enjoy the books. Logic would tell you I have read them more than once. Logic would tell you I know there is only one book left (think about it for a minute). When I said I'm not reading her books anymore if Harry dies I meant I wouldn't be reading any of the books... you know Books 1-7 inclusive. Don't try and act like you're all that because you said n00b. It's tends to have the boomerang effect.

goku, dont be a jerk. its extremely difficult to find sarcasm in posts. and i dont think it is necessary to spell check a post. lol.

09-30-2005, 11:09 PM
It's hard to tell sarcasm/jokes/etc. like that when I can't hear your voice. Otherwise all I'll say is that I don't appreciate it anyway.
http://dictionary.cambridge.org/ Please point out words that aren't real thank you very much.
Because you decided to be sarcastic with me and I only wanting to let you know that I will not tolerate that, you decided to attack again though seriously this time. I'm ever so sorry I misspelled some words and I had a sentence fragment. I'll go repent of my sins now. While we're on the subject, I have my own grammatical issues with your post which I would have ignored, but given the current circumstances, I must object.
You're supposed to have an exclamation mark after "Wow". It is an interjection and not a complete sentence. Someone doesn't note sarcasm very well, I was even laying it on rather thick. That is what we call a run on sentence. you eliminate the comma and insert a period. One of your ellipsis is improperly used (the first to be precise). It is not looked upon as a break in thought as the second one is. You don't capatilize words after the ellipsis either. I think I'll call that good now.
Do you see how ridiculous this is? I had no problems till you said n00b. All you had to do was claify instead of trying to rip into me. I'm not unreasonable. I would have understood. I'm not going to do this with you. Especially since you're attacking me for something I'm only concerned with on a paper, which was only a result of me defending myself for a derogatory comment directed at me. I can take a joke. I can take sarcasm. Don't assume someone is going to understand your motive online if they can't hear the tone of your voice though. Now I'm sorry if I'm sounding peeved, but I'm feeling a little unjustice here. I don't give a rip about your spelling or mine for that matter or grammatical errors and whatnot. Now I know that you're not serious it's not an issue for me. Don't make an issue if it's not one. Sound good? We cool?
