If his parents do work for MS, they would probably be pissed to find out there son took and posted images of that.

And if any of you all go to something awful forums, a poster who posts there works at MS, and leaked photos to them back in January of the 360. So I wouldn't be surprised if this was real.

i think it is real because the kid posted his dads card on the gamespot forums

also in the shot of the tv with the logo of 360 it looks real and would probably have been impossable to photoshop

very very few people have access to a REAL xbox 360 and hardware. i am thinking this is very very fake

Nope it turns out to be real. Very funny since the kid is begging for the thread to be deleted with all the images, seeing as the Father is gonna kick his @ss, and the NDA is gonna kick the father's @ss.

Still wanna know what the damn wires are for...

I mean, obviously it's not going to be like that normally... but what the heck are they!?

KnightRiderX
07-18-2005, 08:42 PM
the kid said that those wires are just for testing purposes. Oh and the kid also said that the power cord for the 360 is like the power cords for a laptop; those big things that the laptops connect to before connecting to the wall. he even said its bigger than that; its massive.

KID: Dad, can I take pics of me and the Xbox 360 and post them on the Interweb?
DAD: Remember, we're under an NDA so we can't.
KID: What does that mean?
DAD: It means, "No, Dumb Ass, you can't take pics."

Is it just me, or is there no indication that the unit is even on? No glowing green light on the button. On the beta kits, the "ring of light" thing doesn't actually work, FWIW, but it's not like that's an important feature. Also, the beta kits (at least the ones we have) don't have wireless controllers, nor did the controllers at E3 actually work, AFAIK.

On top of all that, there's no pictures that actually show the wires leading out of the box going into the back of the TV. From the pictures alone, you could just as easily say that there's a normal Xbox hidden behind that's playing Halo2.

The first thing I noticed is the face plate doesn't look detachable as though it's part of a soild mold.

That's precisely what I was thinking... about the XBox being the one playing Halo.

gamecube has it, right??

KnightRiderX
07-18-2005, 10:43 PM
I don't think so cause a friend has gamecube and I have never seen him connect it to a external power supply device.

Sandman

The GameCube has an external power supply I believe. It's the black box in the middle of the power cord.

Coded-Dude
07-18-2005, 10:48 PM
a few reasons why: cooling, more internal hardware

Yeah, Gamecube and PSTwo both have them, no bid deal...its beeter than the damn bricks that are right on the plugin like SNES and NES.

I liked how the N64 docked the whole power supply into the cabinet.

The dork didn't copy the URLs correctly.

Instead of right clicking and selecting to copy the URL, he highlighted the text (URl with ... all in it) and pasted that.

To get back on topic, i just heard some rumors that the kid actualy had an Xbox hidden beneath the pillow to fake backward compatability. The two shots of the 360 kinda prove so, since you can see a few wires going out of the pillow.. I mean, why not just have the 360 next to the T.V and take the pictures from there.

Meh, we dont really know, this could just be a hype rising from Microsoft themselfs. With all the influence the company has, i dont doubt that they could have already removed the story from the most important Internet news sites. The fact that the news are still in big places like gamespot and others coudl hint that Micrsoft is cheaply advertising their console. I am not really impresed, now, if a kid turned out to have a PS3 with a playable demo of GT5, then i might be surprised, depending on the situation.

This is the most amusing thing i've seen in a very long time... i love this.

OK. Now i'm gonna help you confused kids out with stating some obvious facts:

#1 how do we know it's a real 360?
nobody would go through the trouble it takes making a fake piece of hardware. OK so now that's sorted.

#2 How do we know it's really playing halo 2 and that the kid didn't hide a xbox under the pillow?
Because that would just be a stupid thing to do... c'mon think about it, why go through that trouble faking it, that 360 alone is enough to be impressing others. And IF he went through all the trouble it would take to fake that 360 logo screen (connecting his PC through the tv) then he would also have faked some fancy schmancy game instead of just plain halo2.

#3 Is it a real story or is it a marketing ploy by Bill & co?
Impossible to say. The kid and the dad are of course real ppl involved with microsoft. But were they directed to do this?
What we know is that there are agencies who make big bucks by coming up with ploys like this and that they have huge companies for clients. At some point I believe all the three big console companies will use a blogging skam to introduce something about their next gen console.
It's probably more likely to be a ploy because these kind of stories are like urban myths: too good to be true but we believe them because we love to laugh at a good story.
I'd like to think it is a ploy too. I don't want to believe that a n y kid is t h a t stupid...........

Im gonna tell u guys why this isnt fake, matter fo fact is a lot of times photoshopped pics surface of hardware, and then what do sony microsoft say. We do not respond to rumors. Simple and plain. But this time, all the legit sites like gamespot and all who had anything on this story, suddenly had to remove all pics and text related to that story. Now why would Microsoft tell them to do that, if it wasnt real!

Ub3rGoob3r

Twilight, there was just no need for that shit
1) we already established that this is all fake with everyone having to delete the stories fromt heir sites.
2)we already know that he kid was hiding an xbox under the pillow, besides, there was an AV pack unplugged from the 360 anyway
3)you can't see the wires behind the tv in the shot of the 360 logo on the screen so we dont know if he was using his computer or whatever, but i bet it was through the computer connected to the TV
