This poll question was inspired by the rumor indicating that Sony may be redesigning the look of the PS3 such that it will look it's finest when standing vertically rather than when laid horizontally. Just got me wondering what people's history is with the PS2 and what the popularity of the vertical stand is.
I for one have never in my life stood my PS2 vertically.
I've had mine for four years and it has never been vertical.

Although I would like it uprightl, my entertainment center is just too packed to get a standing console in there without me having to go and remove pieces of the entertainment system from its center. So really, I have no other choice but to lay it down, but I'm not complaining. It's in the company room. If I thought it was really that important, I'd take it into another room.

Every single home I've been to that has had a PS2, they've always had it positioned horizontally. Especially after reports of discs being scratched due to the way the disc sat in the tray. Hopefully the vertical design elements don't look to bad when lain horizontally.
BTW, have you guys noticed that even if the slot loader has the possibility of scratching the discs, the Blu-Ray discs have the hardcoat coating so they'll be the most durable of PS3 games. Just something I thought I'd throw out there.

I don't have a PS2, but I'd lay it flat too...

I go for horizontal, dont know, its a sapace waster but i think it looks better. Soemtimes puttting the PS2 vertical is not bad, saves space and looks neat.

whenever i had my ps2 i liked to have it vertical because it was a space saver. and in a small bedroom you need as much space as possible. currently my xbox takes up 3/4 of my room.

:err: That's a big console. I guess size does matter.

Whoa, then either you have a very, very robust Xbox which is like 12 feet long or you have a very miniature room. If you look at the 360 design carefully, you will see that it will be hard to lay it verticaly on a flat wall or something beacuse it is ondulated, and it will have a little space between the wall/whatever.

Horizontal. I never have it vertical
If you have a Slim PS2, it looks best vertical. But then to have it verical you have to shell out 10$ to get the stand. But since this is about the PS3, I say it looks the best vertical.

Well... it's almost more about the PS2 than it is the PS3; it's just the PS3 iswhat sparked it.

My PS2 is always vertical, really cool looking and very futuristic.
PS3 looks very identical to PS2 design except its more rounded, while PS2 has sharp edges.
i like PS2 better tho, cause of the sharp angles.

I got mine laid horizontal, it seems more safer that way, and my PS3 will go in the exact same place as my ps2 is now.
