Ah, looks like Level 5's been working on something after all! Here's the links for proof:

While this rules out Dark Cloud 3 for the PS2, it's good news in that we're not only getting another RPG but that DC3 may end up as a PS3 game. More is expected on it tommorow (and possibly Level 5's announcement of PS3 exclusivity just like that guy from the rumor thread).

Not it's clearly a PS2 game. ;)

I'm talking about Rogue Galaxy being a PS2 RPG, and since they have that going and no mention of Dark Cloud 3 has been made, it's safe to assume that it might end up a PS3 game. DC3 that is, not RogueGalaxy.

In fact I thought you were talking about Rogue Galaxy on PS3 but I didn't see the reference of DC 3.

Oh. The first thing I would've noticed about the game is what console it was for, just to avoid getting people's hopes up.

Do you guys really think, that THIS graphics are actually on PS2 level?
Wheter this shots are from a FMV or PS3 Celshading shots.
Just look at the high Polycount of the characters. No edges! Everything is really smooth. I don't believe that my old PS2 can do this graphics.

the first image is definetely a cut scene coming from the in game engine but the second pic looks CG to me. If the second pic is in game then is definetely not a ps2 game. it's mostlikely to be a ps3 game.

Nope, this has been reported and verified as a PS2 game. We' re just looking at a game being made for a console who's ins and outs are thoroughly known. There was mention a while ago about current gen consoles getting really good looking games in the coming months.
Bring it on Level 5.

Wow i think that is realtime this adds a few more months to ps3's release if ps2 came put out those visuals... its still got life.
come on people are you serious? those cell shaded models look like PS3?!
there is nothing mind blowing about them they are a cell shaded game on PS2. the second pic is obviously a CG cut scene.

But look at the high Polycount!
Even the chains in the background are round, and just look at the handle of the sword.
And now look at a shot from Dragon Quest VIII:

Look at the handle of the sword and the head of the maincharacter. Can you see it? Edges! And a lot less polys!
I just believe that these are ingame PS2 graphics when I see them running on a PS2.

those screenshots make me think of FFXII and reminds me that it still exists.....I haven't heard about it in like a year. but I bet this game will be good too though. Didnt Level 5 make Dark Cloud 2?? Because that was a fun one.

Yes, Level 5 made Dark Cloud and Dark Cloud 2. They're really on the up-and-up. What surprises me is that for a game with visuals this good for a PS2 game, it's been in development all this time yet it's announced not long before it's release (in Japan). It's possible that Sony had a hand in this timing, since it's going to pop up in December when the Xbox 360 is supposed to launch in Japan.
Could it be possible that Level 5's doing the same thing as Square and cutting back on the poly counts and working with better textures and investing the polygons elsewhere?
