Square Enix and Sony Pictures have delayed the US launch of its CG film, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, with the movie no longer being released simultaneously with Japan.

Originally lined up for a September 13th roll-out with its Japanese counterpart, the US version of Advent Children now has a vague "holiday season" launch, with mid-to-late November expected, according to gaming site, 1UP. When speaking to Games Industry.biz, a representative for Square Enix UK also admitted that there is still no confirmed release date for Europe.

With no theatrical launch planned in the West, UMD and DVD versions will be the main formats for Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, the latter coming in a 2-disc special edition form that includes trailers, bonus features and behind-the-scenes-footage.

its supposedly will be optimized so that one PSP charge can view it, and then its dead.

It still looks friggin awsome, and I believe it's up to an hour and a half now (AFAICR). I'm still buying it because it just feels like it's going to kick serious ass.

There also more than just some "extra footage", the Japanese version appears to have a mini episode of sorts done completely in cell animation (not CG or 3D at all, and it too looks to kick many an ass).


A little delay isn't going to piss on my parrade, and it shouldn't yours either.

Hmm so thats what happened, I got in a big argument with EB and its manager about this movie since it was supposed to launch same time as japan.. but not anymore it seems.

Ohwell time to track down a japanese copy if I have to, Ive waited too long to see this to care whether its english.. or hell spanish/german copy is fine with me. For that matter, Id find a copy and sub it myself... wait scratch that last part >.>

Although this is the limited edition cover, I personally think this should be the standard case cover for the DVD and UMD cover pictures. I like it, its much more eye catching then that old pose of Cloud and Sephiroth.

Well I also got this one which looks even better then the earlier one I posted.
