Just started and finished this short series (13epps) today.
I must say "I am impressed"
I'd highly recommend it to those who like vampire flicks, or some really nice anime.
Who thinks Alucard is Dracula?

^^I agree with what you said. Sadly, I didn't enjoy it very much maybe because I've been watching anime for a long time.
The main character was really cool, though. He interested me enough to watch the anime thru :)
If you like this theme, I recommend you watch Bastard (that's the name of the anime, not a random insult), and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. I am sure you will enjoy both. Bear in mind, thought that Bastard is an incomplete anime. It's only six awesome episodes, then you would have to read the managa to finish the story.

if you like Hellsing
I recommend Gankutsuou, its also an anime by Gonzo and with a very badass main character... but its a much more mature show in a drama kind of way
one of the finest I ever saw.

Hellsing's anime is very cool, but a bit messed up towards they end. The series didn't follow the manga after some time, and needless to say, the original creater was pissed.
The manga is still running and is a bit better storywise IMO, too bad there's only one chapter a month.
If you like this series so much, I bear good news. There is going to be a new anime that WILL follow the manga exactly, which is probably bound to even better. I believe that it'll start sometime this year.
Also, Notedog2 (huge spoiler):
Alucard IS Dracula

the Hellsing manga has a lot of good stuff, but equally as much "not so good" stuff imo
I really liked the first volume, and even more so the second
but after that it lost my interest
but the artwork and black comedy of the series is very enjoyable
and again in this case, manga > anime
we'll see how the new OVA will work out :)
also, since the manga is from Dark Horse
its very expensive.. .for those like me who like to buy their manga

I though so NanoNills...just making sure I wasn't the only one.
At least Hellsing has an "ending" where as Berserk left me half way into the manga...
