I read the following on a philosophy forum, i liked the way this guy put pretty much everything there is in life so succinctly.Wish i could write like this......
life's much too short to squander it on worrying about the galatic black hole that's binging on stars. the cirrhosis in your liver or the drunk driver on your street will finish you off eons before your ass hits the event horizon. it's hard to get depressed about an apocalypse that's still ten or so billion years in the making. besides, to glimpse ultimate things and then realize that you will never ever be responsible for them is also a huge relief. of course it's liberating! the infinite makes even the worst human troubles infinitesmal by comparison. the tremendum provides us with the healthiest perspective: we're puny, inconsequential, & ephemeral wisps of protoplasm -- everything we'll ever achieve or conceive of or suffer as a species is efforvescent -- we're just piss down the cosmic drain. and better for it! in fact, the unbearable lightness of being isn't so unbearable after all. once you to take it to heart that your life (& the world) has no meaning and there is no hope, even suicide really becomes pointless. with time it's easier to see that the universe is just a whirlpool to nowhere and we accidental sentients are just mites along for the ride. make of it what you will -- a rip-roaring hoot or a self-flagellating neurotic tantrum -- it doesn't matter in the end. as a very funny man once said in all seriousness: "Birth was the death of him." take heart, and laugh till it hurts ...
