The other week my sister was messing around and changed the admin password, but made a typo. So I was just going to reformat because it needed it badly. I just connected it as a slave to another computer, copied some files over and connected it backl. (yes i did change the jumper back). Anyways, i dont have windows 2000 with me, its up in ohio with my brother. I burned that to a CD after i "got" it. Run that but it freezes at "BOOT CD". Great, so i went into the bIOS told it to boot back to the hardrive. It doesn't load windows. Instead it says "Windows 98 Startup menu" (the cd is out btw)

What the hell? I have 2000. I do have a second hardrive, but it doesn't have windows on it. It won't load windows, so i loaded command prompt. It cant find any other drives and half of the commands don't work. I think its trying to boot from my slave for some idoitic reason. I view the files and none of them are the ones on my master. I can barly tell though since you can't scroll up, I only see old files, which could be on any hardrive.

The computer I have is custom built, two hardrives, 80 and 60. Windows 200 Pro, Intel Penitum four mother board. Thanks!

Get on AIM, and I will see what I can do.

Edit: post any Questions you have about using the emergency boot disk.

For the rest of you, here is the software: :)

A really nifty utitity for lost passwords, amoung things. It is under the GNU-Free licences, and comes with a utility that makes an ISO for a bootable CD.

@nbakyfan15 - Is everything working now? Did Nuke get ot help you out?

@phymon - Is it now allowing you because the file "is in use." Sometimes you can just reboot (which will release the file from memory) and it will allow you to then copy it.

Other than that, it may be a bad connection or a security setting.
