Hey guys, long time no see.

I just thought one of you may be able to help me with a bit of a problem I've been having. Sometimes in a folder of .avi files or videos I have, the internet explorer error will pop up. You know the one..."Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." Then you get the option to send an error report or whatever if you're using Windows XP, which I have. Anyway, it's usually a certain file that I can sometimes manage to isolate and when I delete it, there's no longer a problem. The funny thing is if I try to open it, windows media player will encounter a problem too. The really funny thing is, in one case I had a zip folder with an avi file inside and it worked fine. I tried taking it out of the zip and putting it in my video folder and the problem would occur, and the file would no longer open. I've had problems like this before until I installed my Xvid codec thingy. Then most of the problems went away until now. Just wondering if any of you know of a way to fix this. Let me know.

Hey good to see you man! Do you have any other codecs installed besides Xvid? If not you should try installing Angel Potion.

Well I tried that and it didn't change anything, so I dunno.

Where the eff have you been?

As for your problem.. I have no idea. Sorry :(. But I don't think I've ever had WMP working properly on any of my computers.

The only thing I can think to try would be to try the trial of System Mechanic 5 Pro (http://iolo.com/sm/5pro/download.cfm), then go to Optimize > Tweak Windows Settings > Performance > Speed-up access to AVI media files, enable then apply it at the bottom.
I've never had a problem with AVI files, but who knows. It's Microsoft Windows XP.

Edit: Oh, and welcome back KamiKaZe. Long time, no see.

Might be that thing with Windows where it tries to load thumbnails of the videos which takes up a lot of memory.

Something like that I can't remember of the top of my head.
