yes....I will be watching the leaked version, but will also purchase the movie when available.
I haven't decided wether or not to get the DVD or UMD yet though.

1) Not a rental. This is by far one of the most wicked animes to come out in a while.

2) Some theaters in America will be playing it during festivals, but don't expect it to be everywhere all the time.

Steamboy got pretty weird after awhile, and by weird I mean historically weird, like people had developed airplanes and machine guns by then oh yea, and tanks....I was like wtf? But the ending credits made it look like a series was going tospring up afterwards...did one come about yet? Or was it just wishful thinking?

Steamboy was just a showoff movie. But damn, that staircase scene with the 3-D matrix-esque animation...my life was complete right about there.

It's not as amazing as Steamboy. Or even Howl's Moving Castle for that matter. But it's still amazing.

I can't freaking find the subtitled one, and it's driving me crazy!
There isn't a subtitled version yet, AFAIK. You have to get the XVID and the subtitles separately and put them together yourself. You can probably get by by just using VirtualdubMOD and adding the subtitles as a track and re-saving as an OGM with a "copy stream" for the video and audio tracks so it doesn't lose any quality.

BTW, a guy at my office downloaded it and a bunch of us watched it after work in the break room -- on a nice big theatre screen and all -- f'ing out of this world, I must say! I did happen to see it with Jasconius' subs, and for those who haven't seen it yet, I'll say that there's a lot of holes in that version, and there's the occasional severe mistiming. At least there are no real translation errors except for the opening text. I still haven't seen the SRT version that I linked above ye, so I can't comment yet.

EDIT : Started reading through the script linked above and it looks like it's Jasconius' second pass over the file -- looks a lot more complete this time. Still have to wait and see how the timing is, though.

Can anyone tell me what player should this be played in? Cuz I've tried Winamp, RealPlayer, Divx (sp?), Windows media Player, Quicktime, Power DVD...well none of them worked. If someone can provide me with the proper media player as well as perhaps a download link to it, that would be very nice...

I got it. My teacher's assistant put the movie on one of the school's drives and everybody in the building was able to get it. It came with a codecs, subs, and the movie. It's not hard to get the codecs. I use Windows Media Player and I d/led DivX but DivX unlike WMP will get you the codecs and after you get the codecs more movies should be able to get played on your WMP. It also helps to have the latest one movie player edition since I think 9 for WMP seems to have made it incompatible with a lot of movies. Also after you get the codecs you can get rid of DivX.

Personally I frickin hate having to have multiple movie watching programs. What the heck is up with these sites that require Java movie players?

The movie was awesome. It was made for the fans. You can't just judge the movie by itself because if you do that then you're gonig to wonder who that guy (Zack) waiting for Aeris is, who these important characters (the ones you play as), what the big monster was (materia weapon), etc You also have to really play the game since the real character stories are activated only by certain times in the game and it's easy to miss Yuffie and Vincent and if it isn't I can imagine some people giving up.

The fight scenes were the best I have seen in any movie ever. They do correctly what the Matrix movies did wrong. Although Neo vs the smith army was pressy good and Neo vs Mr. Smith in the air was an ok attempt at a DBZ style air fight scene. At least it was an attempt because I knew the difficulty of trying to have real people.

My only problem is that there needed to be more relaxing times in certain parts of the movie. It was exhausting when it was action after action after action. Also the main characters just weren't enough. Those Shinra agents while I do like their parts really had good ones to make them memorizable. I really wanted Yuffie, Barret, Cait Sith, Cid, the blonde Shinra agent girl, Zack, and Rufus to be involved more. Some of them were involved for a good amount of time but they just weren't accentuated to who I thought they were. Rufus could have been a damn good fighter, because those two comedy agents (black dude with glasses and the red head) had really good parts. Tifa, Cloud, and Vincent vs the Advent Children would have been a good way to end up since I look at those three as the most important ones.

I downloaded it, but I still wanna know how to play it, it came in a 700,000 kb file format that only works with Notepad (is labeled Awsome.ini, as if it were configuration settings...) I'd like to know how to play it, and any help will be appreciated.

Use bittorrent and bitlord, then go to torrentspy and DL it.

I got the subs from a friend and I use VLC Media Player for all my stuff, so your going to have to look for them yourself. But overall its a really, really kick arse movie!

I tried to put subtitles on a movie a while ago except it turned into a 30kb file...which probably means i fucked up. Someone nees to help me! (btw, i have a program called VobSub or something)

Story makes little sense, but it has ubelievable amounts of asskicking and eyecandy and everyone knows nowadays that's what makes a good movie ;-P

Use the VLC movie watcher. If you have the ".ssa" file put a checkmark on the subtitle options and look for the file that ends in ".ssa".

Also the story made sense if you found Vincent, Yuffie, and unlocked the mini-stories on Zack in FFVII. It would also have probably helped if you watched the "Last Order" anime that was made with the movie. It probably isn't worth watching if you played the game but well it's anime and you get to know more about Zack.

I cant see anything that has .ssa at the end of it, but there are a couple of files that say 'subtitle file' which is 29kb and 1888kb and then theres a file that is .SFV (but thats only 1kb).

So, Im guessing the two 'subtitle file's are the .ssa files. Do i use the bigger one, or the smaller one or both? (i havnt tried the VLC thing yet, it just finished downloading)
