GL Layout : My suggestion

We had our comp class at the iMac lab today. I was getting bored there, and those macs had photoshop in them. So I just started sketching some sample site layouts in PS, and got a basic structure of what I wanted. Came home, with the layout in a disk, and worked on it some this afternoon, polishing it up a bit more.

This is the layout that I made for GL, but IT DOESNT HAVE TO BE THE FINAL ONE. As you can see in Alt Art's layout (http://www.alt-art.net/altart/glfinal.jpg), its virtually flawless. It lacks in something, I dont know, but something that a gaming site should have, may be the "filled with content" look :D. Dont get me wrong, I was the one who told Alt Art to make the layout that way, and he did it in the EXACT same way, and did one hellova job..

I am just asking you to post your opinions on this layout...if this should be our layout...


Features of this layout

It loads fast, not many image files. Superb for 56k users
A "filled with content" look
Easier to code, and modify later on


This layout is not yet done. It still needs some polishing. The color scheme is not final...(I put green orange and gray cause they go well togather). The header is not done. And for the menus, I have an excellent style in mind, kind of similer to the old navigation style that we had in the old layout.

Now, what do you think?

the yellow and orange dosn't look good to me. try some green and REAL orange, maybe. that would look hilarious just fool around with the colors i think. but i dont know how much time that acually takes, so whatever, i dont know if it would be worth it
just try anything but the color that u got right now

With a few more scratch here and there, few more shapes and pictures, a nice header and some fillers (console names, nav links, poll....), it will probably look better :D

I like Alt art's artwork (The first picture you linked)......but the one you atttached color blinded me.....
