what was your first RPG?

mine was Mario RPG for SNES.

still my favorite game to date. :thumbsup:

Hehehe...Ultima, for the NES. They had a HUGE spread in the Nintendo Power issue right around Christmas called, "RPG'S!!!!"


I didn't know what the hell RPG even stood for. But I loved all the different characters you could be, and how the waxing and waning of the moon did different things and so forth, so I got Ultima for Christmas. After that, I played the first Final Fantasy for the NES. I loved it. :)

Current RPG's aren't really RPG's...they're picture-stories that you play. Blah. I think Lunar and.....aw christ.....uh....GRANDIA! That's it. Grandia and Grandia 2 were some of the best RPG's to come out to date. Final Fantasy X is not an RPG, it's a prettily-drawn story game, with no player-influenced character development at all. Bah.

Final Fantasy I on the NES. I learned to read by playing it, but I pronounced "item" as "it-em" until I was eight.

Oh well, while it's here...

Zelda: Link's Awakening

At the time, for me, this was such a big adventure in one small cartidge.
I love this game. There's so much in it. Considering.

It means, "Likewise" in Spanish. As in:

I think it was Shining Force for the Genesis, only by circumstance though, I think it was just one of the random games I got. I really got into them with FFVI though.
