...Nintendo also revealed today that it plans to unveil its next-generation console at E3 in May next year. Nintendo's executive director Jinyou Mori stated that the company hopes to release the unannounced next-generation console during the next fiscal year in Japan, and also commented that a simultaneous worldwide release would be ideal.

Wow, another one...
Is it gonna be handheld like Gameboy or is it gonna be like Gamecube?

Oo.. Kinky. Why is it in the GBA section though? Not another one. They just released the SP. It says console, though....
Oh, nevermind. Reread. It's a new next-gen system. :D

Man, I hope they don't go for something like the Phantom.
Although Nintendo could do it right.

Nintendo has better sense than to add non-sensical features as the Phantom, or the PSX. As long as it has a DVD player, it will do just as equal in sales as PS3 or X-Box 2 might. Maybe a notch better since no one can resist classic Nintendo franchises.

Yes DS is for dual screen... the system is supposed to have two backlit LCD screens slightly bigger than the GBA or something like that. Its been a while since i read the specs that they'd picked up so far over at planetgamecube

I really dont see the purpose in having 2 screens though. The only advantage i could see is that in like an RPG you could have your items on one screen and the game on the other?

I'll have to see what kind of games are developed for it and see if the innovation is worth the money.

Well, one of the screens is supposedly touch screen, which would be nice for stuff like RPGs, you could just touch whatever item you want to pick out of your inventory, and use it. It could work out.
As of now, I'm undecided on the DS (also codenamed the Nitro, as of now). Nintendo let me down by telling me that they weren't going to fix my GBA SP when it fell off a shelf in the last earthquake we had out here. The hinges broke right off of it, and they tell me that "we don't cover those kinds of repairs." It's all b/s. I don't know if I'll ever buy another Nintendo console again. We'll see.

Try telling that to some 12 year old ps2er.

Come now, we all know that those aren't real gamers.
They're more buy-into-the-hype-that-random-blood-is-cool-because-violence-makes-a-great-game-er.

Here's how I see it:
PS2 is for the more casual gamers. Gamers who like pretty much anything.
Xbox is for the more hardcore gamers.
GameCube is for the gamer who likes a console strictly for games; a console that serves no other purpose.

That was actually a well mapped diagram. :P
Yes it was... though I'd have to say PS2 is the dominate in RPGs, X-Box is Multiplayer, and Gamecube is Action/Adventure, for the most part.
I've been looking into getting an xbox... Halo and xbox live are just too good to pass up.

Why thank you. I've always thought it that way, because when you see people with PS2's, they have about a million games in their collection to go with it, mainly because they'll buy pretty much any crap that goes on the shelves.
