Right now what would you have to say is the strongest game developer? (don't say Nintendo)
Well I think over the years Sega and EA have been close, but I think EA pulls away with all the different selection of games.

I enjoy Squaresoft....they have produced a multitude of games, which are all quite well done...
They don't really spread themselves over many consoles, but they do know what they're doing when they make a game

My favorite is probably Treasure.
Capcom, Konami, SNK, and Sega are close behind though.

Konami was behind Rocket Knight, the second if not best mascot game ever to come to the Sega Genesis. I'm not giving it to them just for that though.

Electronic Arts by far. They have 5 different divisions, each with stellar platinum titles. Like James Bond, Madden NFL, SSX, The Sims, NBA Street, Sim City, The Lord of The Rings and so on. They are by far the most stable and developed, and features the greatest range of genres.
EA Games
EA Sports
EA Sports BIG
EA Pogo
Maxis

All of the developers mentioned above have been producing quality (and also, shit) titles over the years. EA, Nintendo, Sega, Square/Enix etc...made a lot of great games :D.
But lately, UbiSoft Montreal Studio have produced some quality titles :D. Splinter Cell, Rainbow Six 3, Prince of Persia; all three of their xbox title have been big hits, commercial blockbusters and critically acclaimed :). The developers have taken advantage of the hardware, they've listend to gamers, showed off some amazing graphics and gameplay, and incorporated many things in their games that are both new and innovative and surprisingly good :)
