I do, it was just as good as Goldeneye, (if not better)
My best friend and I played that game for hours every weekend.
I only have one question.
What the hell happened to Perfect Dark Zero?!!
It's at least 2 years since I heard about it, and I've been dreaming about it ever since. I remember i couldnt wait for it to come out on the cube, then Rare switched to microsoft. I was considering getting an xbox, but i never heard of Perfect Dark Zero again. This pisses me off!
Where the hell did it go?!
Damnit!

where the hell did that pic come from envisage?
Oh, and by the way. the reason it looks kiddy is because one of the main problems (which wasnt really a problem) was weak character design. The "kiddiness" is there attempt at creativity. I dont think it looks to bad, but i dont care what it looks like, as long as its as good as the original perfect dark.

not true. nintendo fans have always winned about the xtremely long dev times Rare is now known for...other than that, i dont understand your post due to sentence fragments and misplaced periods.
but for you to say "perfect dark will receive the harware it deserves"..that is crap. oh yea, and i assume that conker is getting the hardware it deserves too..a N64 port with L!ve treatment. 0mg, dont over do it microsoft! HAHAHA :D

Why?
Xbox controller = best for FPS'
FPS's sell best on Xbox
Xbox Live > no online from Nintendo
most powerful
what would be the advantages of keeping it on GCN hardware over Xbox hardware? more like limitations. Less ram, no online, less disk size, etc etc

i can say that the statement "perfect dark will receive the harware it deserves" is crap (false) based on the fact that Rare and Nintendo's collaboration is what made Rare's games so great, not the hardware or blah blah blah. -- I mean really, if Rare could make all those gems on the N64, do you really think that GCN hardware would be a problem?....NO...so obvious, it has nothing to do with hardware, so all that you said is means nothing.
We could sit here and debate which controller is the best or what sells better where, but no way does online make a game better...(you can still bring a crappy game online, can't you). Also, we could sit here and debate which console is the best (http://www.nintendonow.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10640) .. but one thing that is a fact is: Rare + Nintendo = great games...Rare + Microsoft = we have yet to see, but critics haven't been too happy with the showings as of late.
So....it is safe for me to say that the "perfect dark will receive the harware it deserves" is crap based upon the great relationship rare had with nintendo making great games for nintendo...it is not safe (or is more opinioned) to say that "perfect dark will receive the harware it deserves" because there is nothing to back it up but "oh..the hardware is there to make it great." blah :chinese2:

"Rare is an independent company which can make whatever it wants to make."
"Rare is a rather independent company and it has the capacity to work independently."
"At the very beginning, my personal involvement was ten percent. This lessened as the sequels went on."
- Shigeru Miyamoto on Rare
Since Rare works independently (and especially on Perfect Dark since it uses no Nintendo characters), once again, what is the benefit of having it on GCN over Xbox?

but "oh..the hardware is there to make it great."

Prince, Rare is SECOND party to MS.
Rare made great games because of talented people. Many of those talented people are no longer with Rare so the hardware is of no matter.
Rare has always been known to take its time with a game but it still managed to release 2 games per year average during the N64 lifespan (5 years/10-11 products) and in nearly 2 years with MS, has yet to produce anything and may not for nearly another year.
Clearly Rare is not what it was.
Oh yeah...Joanna had plenty of character and sure they are going back to her beginning but does that mean she needs to look like a Space Channel 5 reject?
Prince

Rare is first party to MS.
Rare was with MS for 2 years? What the hell are you talking about? It hasn't even been one year yet. And GbTG is coming out October 28, 2003.

"Rare is an independent company which can make whatever it wants to make."
it can make whatever it wats to make, but still is influenced by who owns stock in the company...in this case, microsoft has a good investment in Rare...you think they are truly independent?..most importantly, Rare isn't independent enough to be able choose to make PS2 or GCN games are they?....nope, cuz they are a microsoft second party company.
what is the benefit of having it on GCN over Xbox?
nintendo and rare DID collaborate on Perfect Dark, since they often had people from nintendo, whether it be conference calls, developer insight, etc..that is the benefit....the N and Rare collaboration (among other things).
but "oh..the hardware is there to make it great."...^ Yes, thats exactly it.
i bet they said the same about SX Superstar, Speed Kings, Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix, or The Great Escape.
obviously, the "oh so great hardware of the xbox" couldn't save these games for being complete sh*t :evillaugh

He was talking about game development, and how they are independent (make games by themselves) for the most part.
Microsoft owns Rare 100% they are a first party to MS.
nintendo and rare DID collaborate on Perfect Dark, since they often had people from nintendo, whether it be conference calls, developer insight, etc..that is the benefit....the N and Rare collaboration (among other things).
If they wanted, they could go to help for Bungie which is experienced with Xbox hardware & Xbox Live. And Bungie is much more experienced in FPS' then Nintendo is... the collaboration benefit is there on Xbox as well.
i bet they said the same about SX Superstar, Speed Kings, Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix, or The Great Escape.
obviously, the "oh so great hardware of the xbox" couldn't save these games for being complete sh*t :evillaugh
Yes it could have. Those developers chose not to take advantage of the hardware.
Multiplatform games from shitty developers and a sloppy port isn't the same as an exclusive first party release built specifically for the hardware.

since this thread is
1) going nowhere and
2) has gotten off of subject
i will say...
- PD (N64) rocked and was > Goldeneye
- I hope PD0 comes out sooner than later
- I hope Rare is a good as it was when it with Nintendo. Otherwise, that would be sad

How can Rare be a second party? Microsoft owns them and publishes all of their games. They're definitely first.
And by now it's clear that Rare is a bit clueless. Xbox is a system that appeals to a Western audience - people who like war games, realism, and "coolness". It makes absolutely no sense to release Grabbed by the Ghoulies on the system, or even Kameo and perhaps Conker. Unless you have the gigantic userbase of Sony, it's not profitable to release games that don't appeal to the core audience of your system. I'm no business major but I can tell you it won't sell. That's why the first few months of the console's life are crucial - they establish an image.

Since PD0 is coming out so late, do you think it will be truly amazing, or do you think they're gonna wait till the last minute? I personally think they've had long enough to make a insanely crumpin awesome game. If they wait till 2006, it had better be freakin unbeleiveably crumpin bodacious, and most excellent.

Heres what happened. I work for Microsoft Game Studios as the janitor and i read some secret files. I found a timeline.
2000:
- Perfect Dark is released on the N64 with critical acclaim and great sales
- Bungie is bought out by Microsoft and bringing Halo exclusively to Xbox
2001:
- Rare is revealed to be working on Perfect Dark Zero, a prequel to PD
- Halo is released on the Xbox with critical acclaim and great sales
- 6 weeks after Halo shipped when Bungie got back from their short vacation, they start working on Halo 2
2002:
- In early January Rare puts out a christmas card with pictures of XB,GC,PS2 under the tree. Activision and Microsoft were rumored to be bidding on them
- IGN says that its rumored PDZero will come out in 2004 and appears to be celshaded
- Bungie puts out a Halo 2 tech demo thing in August 2002
- One month later, Microsoft buys Rare, renders of PD show a cartoony look
2003:
- Early 2003 Bungie tells everyone that Halo 2 won't make its estimated XMas 03 release and will slip into 2004
- PD is a no show at E3 and X03
Prince says:
- Most Xbox owners did not like that Perfect Dark Zero had a cartoony look, and on top of that XIII is already coming out before PD, so Rare is redesigning it for a realistic look, thus delaying it more
- Since Halo 2 is coming out in 2004 and Bungie will probably be supporting it w/ Downloadable content, it would probably take them at least another 2-3 years to make a new project or a sequel, thus missing the Xbox 2 launch
- Perfect Dark Zero should be ready for XB2 launch and by that time it would be realistic, polished, support XBL, etc -- PDZ takes the place of Halo 3 as Xbox 2's killer app
