Alright.

Recommend me a very good virus detector/scanner that I can download small in size, and features no ads and excessive features.

Recommend me a great ad blocker as well.

There are quite a few available out there, but I don't know which are any good.

Help me out, I say.

Please.

For ad blocking...

Mozilla Firebird (http://downloads.us-east3.mozdev.org/seb/MozillaFirebird-0.7-setup.exe) Browser. Blocks pop ups by default, if you see a banner ad, right click > block images from this server. Click links with your mouse wheel to open them in tabs.

Ad aware (http://majorgeeks.com/downloadget.php?id=506&file=2&evp=8dbaff7daca8f4b55bf695220993fc0f) Update this and scan for spyware. You'll be amazed, and half the ads will stop!

Pop-Up Stopper Pro work good for me. Of course you will have to find a serial key and place to download it.

AVG antivirus. The free edition works great, and there are no tricks to it, except that you have to give a valid E-mail address so they can send you a number. Nvermind 7.0, 6.0 is the free edition, pretty small too.

I would stick with McAfee, but it was erased when I upgraded to XP. And my Norton AntiVirus isn't compatible with XP.

Bah.

For spyware, go with SpyBot. It's really good, and it actually gets rid of hidden spyware.

For general viruses, go either with McAffee or Norton. We have McAffee on our desktop computer and it's really good, but it's a bit paranoid. Whenever I try to go to my favorite online game, a box pops up asking me if the program is allowed to access the internet. Even if I set it to "Always allow this program access" it still asks me every single time. But, McAffee has a great firewall and great antivirus logs. Norton is on my laptop, and it hasn't been there for long, but it's actually pretty good, and not as paranoid. Oh, and you can just download free trial versions of both McAffee and Norton if you want to see which one would work best.

I don't know any popup protectors, because in Safari there's a Block Popups preference. It works really well.

I like the song "Bump bump bump" by B2K, don't you?
