I have the latest DivX player and the codec, and my current machine is

P III 866
128 mb ram
32 mb video

yet a simple 672 x 288 movie runs slow, and skips a lot :(. Any idea how to optimize it and run it smoothly?

p.s. I already know about the controls in the divx player, where you can set your preference to either quality or performence. Mine is set to performence, the quality is shit and still slow :(.

Are you sure its a Divx file and not Xvid or something else? Do you have any codec packs downloaded? Oh and the problem could be the movie file is shit.

Yeah, its divX...and I have the latest Xvid Codec too. Its not the movie file, because I tried it on my friends computer, and its smooth as a baby's ass.

Is it is a file running off of a CD, ZIP, or Floppy?

Because files lag when running off of external storage formats.

sounds like codec problem to me. I have had that problem with different codec packs were some movies were choppy or the picture would not show up right. Try download the FFDShow codec pack, the nimo lite codec pack sux its what didnt work for me. I would first try ffdshow.
