312,000 Xboxs sold in Japan in 2002.

You think that's a good number for what it is... or complete crap?

i know the xbox is probably last out of ps2 gcn and xbox in japan but what are the sales figures for the other major consoles?
its hard to make a statement on whether those numbers are good or bad if u have nothing to compare them with.

...as an example, Wind Waker's release helped push another 100,000 Gamecubes into gamer's hands that late into the year...

Here are the other console sales. And I got it from, where else, the all mighty magicbox. So if you look at it as an anti xboxer, the ratios of xboxs sold to GCs is 1:4 and to PS2s sold were 1:11.

GameBoy Advance 3,146,900
PlayStation 2 3,511,200
GameCube 1,129,300
Xbox 312,400
PSone 219,000
SwanCrystal 112,800
WonderSwan Color 121,600
GameBoy Color 83,900

Yeah man... when you can sell about 3,000,000 copies of Pokemon STILL, you know that GBA is a big hit.

That means rougly everyone in japan that owns a GBA owns Pokemon... maybe it's that kinda thinking that makes Nintendo develop games that require the GBA... 3,000,000 already use it, and a lot of kids out there already have the NGC...

Did you ever see their cross promotional ads with McDonalds in Japan?

Is it any wonder why Japanese gamers don't buy into Xbox? Behold their "Flagship Title" ads.

It's like Microsoft thinks to get worldwide appeal is to make your buyers look like retards on TV.

^haha yeah. The Japanese aren't shallow and obsessed with mindless shooters, violence and guns and realism like western people are. That's why they don't need to fine retailers 1 gazillion yen (or whatevers a thousand bucks) for selling m-rated games. They have better taste than us - most asians do. It's always been like this. Ancient Greece/Rome created realistic, idealistic art. Indians/Chinese created art with vibrant colors, innovation. We draw gladiators with swords, and they draw the soul in a state of enlightenment and harmonic unison with the Universal Spirit. Simple as that.

yeah, there obsesseed with gayer games like that stupid game where you jump on the arrows.

x-box hasnt sold well in japan because they like to be at the top of the game industrty. Besides if you hade an x-box you wouldnt be dissin it all the time. X-box is awsome, and you could argue that microsoft is giving you a better deal on x-box because the parts are so much more than they chare you for. unlike the nintendo people who have to make "profit" on there games. In fact, they repackage the same stuff over and over again, just to make a few extra bucks. And, they have to be losers and make it so you need to buy a gameboy advace and 2 games just to play pokemon gcn. A least microsoft doesnt pull stupid stunts like that, and make you pay like way too much money for one game.

Yeah, Xbox only has affordable, consumer-friendly games like Steel Batallion that don't require you to buy any additional accessories such as large retarted controllers.

I rented an Xbox once for Halo.

I had to bring the coffee table from the living room for it... I had no space for that fucker. You can't set it on the carpet or else the damned thing will overheat and burn up. I rented a DVD to watch on it to, come to find out the shit won't work without a remote.

If I had an Xbox, I would sell it for $100 and buy a GBA.

So true. They'd rather play "Super Happy Fun Monkey Punch 2001" instead of stupid games like Half-Life, Unreal Tournament, or Halo. Makes perfectly good sense.

i guess japans gotta catch em all!Man, there realy milking that series for all its worth. I thought there was only 150? Oh wait, they found another island or something with another 150 or howerver many it was. And man, they didnt put alot of work into thinking up the ideas for the new pokemon they found. The new pokemon johtos or whatever they are called look like they took the old pokemon and puked on them. And they have all the different colored games so you can buy the exact same game 3 times and get 2 more pokemon than you had before. man thats smarts on nintendo's part. I guess people are real suckers in US and japan.

Not Quite, Putting it simply, without getting into the facts, Japanese Prefer Story and Originality over Graphics and Gore, not that graphics and gore are a bad thing..

A least microsoft doesnt pull stupid stunts like that, and make you pay like way too much money for one game. you don't need both games to play pokemon gc, only one. And Nintendo probably did it that way because they figure that anyone who is buying Pokemon GC already has one of the Pokemon GBA games anyway. also what are you talking about "repacking" games?

Dark_Cloud
01-12-2003, 03:26 AM
by repackaging games i mean like red, blue, yellow, same game just with a a differnent pokemon in one area.

not to mention that the gc game is cheaper than all the other games by a long shot, and the Gameboy games are fairly cheap as well.
