I gotta say, I used to be so biased towards PC until Apple debuted with their Generation 3 models with Operating System 8. The ease of use with that thing was impressive. Thus begun my transition towards Apple. Then when the G4's came out with OSX, that pretty much did it for me. I do digital video editing, and Mac's were designed primarily for that, so it was perfect for me. Final Cut Pro easily beats Adobe Premiere anyday. And with the Apple PowerBook G4 series debuted, I was strictly Apple.
But two days ago, I went browsing through Best Buy and I saw that PC's made a huge jump to digital media design and video editing. The new VAIOs are much more impressive now than when they first came out. I mean they have A/V inputs, RFU inputs, DVD writers and countless USB ports. And I finally got the chance to try Windows Media Player Edition. My God, it is amazing. I wouldnt even need anything else if I had one of those. It plays CD's, DVD's, television, I can connect my video games to it, it has a built in TIVO feature and everything else. Jesus, it was beautiful.
I am torn once more!

PC.
I've tried Macs several times but still fail to see any reason as to why they are better than PC's.

Unless you do a lot of digital design and illustration, then you wouldn't see any reasons to own a Mac.

I failed to see the use for a mac. So i go for pc.
Macs are the only thing that professional media people use, so you have to know how to use one if you plan on doing any kind of media work. There are a few exceptions, but for the most part, they all use macs (for no apperant reason).

There are plenty reasons, bub. Ease of use, and the video and graphics cards were designed for computer designing. Until you use OS X.3, you won't understand why you ever used a PC for graphic designing in the first place. Panther allows the user to switch between operating systems, user accounts on the fly. No waiting, no lag. You can render a video in Final Cut Pro in one account while you render an image in Maya or Bryce in another account, all while working on something else on a third user account. The feature to have programs open and actually running on many different accounts is brilliance.
Not to mention that you can operate OS 9.x while OSX is running. Two operating systems running at once, while other programs are running in other accounts. This is of great convenience for designing.
I'm all for PC's because all I ever do on this thing is play video games and search the web for *cough* various *cough* things. Mac's are nice, but as everyone else said, they are more of a business computer.
If you want a realiable operating system, just get Linux or something. Just as good, and not very many viruses out there that can affect it.

PC's are for business. Mac's are for media.
PC's are for business. Mac's are for media.
This is true.
I really haven't ever been able to work with a "good" mac before. They always have something wrong or are slow or don't have the new OS version, or whatever, so in theory, Macs are the better machine, but I'd rather stick with my PC. Linux/Windows dual boot is fine for me. You don't see any macs around doing that do you? too hard to get Linux to work right on a mac.

I don't see any PC's doing that either. That be the first I ever read about that, says I.

Alienwares are for people with more money than sense.......unless you buy one of their laptops. but really, do you NEED a gig of RAM? are you going to play Far Cry on your laptop? Do you need a ludicrously big HDD? Just get a laptop with 512mb of RAM, 40GB etc.
Unless your a rich bastard and want a PC with style :D
Anyhow, PC's all the way for me.
